Great course for the money - greens in pretty good nick but slow. Enjoyed the round.

For a municipal course, there are few better maintained. Stay out of the rough on the front nine and out of the trees on the back nine and you should have a very satisfying round.

Up until June 2016 I would have to agree with some of the reviews here, that the council and locals were poorly maintaining the course, however, in June / July this has changed considerably, much to my surprise. The tee boxes are still very poor and need work, however, the fairways were reasonably cut but the greens were much more improved, along with a few of the bunkers. Some of the bunkers still require more work and new sand, however, there is definite improvement in the overall course and especially the greens. I was also pleasantly surprised to have my ticket checked on the 6th to reduce the number of people "bunking" onto the course. Southend Council - please keep up the good work. The course itself is one of the best in Essex when property maintained and the back 9 is an especially great test of golf.

Course was in good condition apart from 17th green under going major work.
Can't believe got no pars as I got a bogey on every one of the 18 holes !!

Old established golf course tight back nine and a mixture of short and long holes, great condition and great value for money. Good cafe with good food.
