Weekend visitor from Yorks, late March 2017. This true links course was in excellent condition for late spring, especially the greens which were fast too. Only 3 of the 9 holes offer a serious challenge. Much interference from beach traffic abutting the the first 6 holes, dogs, people, members playing some of the holes backwards dangerously and cars crossing during shot-making where the road to the beach interferes. Dog droppings widespread in the rough but still decent value for winter golf especially.when parkland courses unplayable.

Decided to go up the coast and play 9 holes at Alnmouth Village as I'd not played it before and it was a beautiful sunny morning. My first gripe was that it was £20 whether you played 9 or 18 holes. Personally I think if your a 9 hole course you should set a fair price for those just wanting to play 9 holes. For that reason alone i'm unlikely to go back in a hurry. Other negatives are that a number of holes are very close together and often you are playing on the same fairway as people playing another hole. A number of parts of the course suffer from Rabbit burrows so watch where you are standing or you will turn your ankle !! The positives are that Alnmouth is a lovely village and the links course is a very pleasant place to play. Take time to linger on the 6th tee, not just for the nice view up and down the beach but also to prepare yourself for the steep climb as your drive is ( if you manage to figure it out ) up over the steep rough and onto a very blind fairway high above you. And if you thought the view from the 6th tee was good the view from the 7th is fantastic as you drive back down the hill again. An enjoyable couple of hours in a lovely part of the world with some great views but on a course which does have some issues for the cost.

Nice greens

Tight, short links course. Excellent greens and tight cut fairways. Good test of accuracy. As it's a 9-holer you play twice there's probably only 4-6 occasions to use driver but really you could leave it at home! I'd revisit though not necessarily with any excitement.

I played the course in benign weather, although not long, it would be totally different with the wind blowing. The views are spectacular & you have a feeling of the history of the place. It was founded in 1869. Well worth a visit. Apart from the honesty box area the clubhouse was closed on my visit.

Alnmouth Village is set on the "common" in the beautiful village of Alnmouth. The first 5 holes are true links holes which hug the beach and have some very tricky undulations around the greens. A severe climb comes next, but it's worth it for the view from the 7th tee, which is breathtaking, especially if you flush your drive, which will hang in the air for what seems like an age.

Downsides on the day we visited - the clubhouse was locked up which meant access to refreshments and changing facilities weren't available. Upsides - the course was in excellent condition, especially the greens, and well worth the £15 green fee.

Very good nine hole links. Holes are not long but there are a couple of quite challenging holes. Played reasonably and a bit better than the previous day.

Traditional and tempting village links

Lovely little 9 hole course which offers 18 via some seperate tees. The layout is largely over the lower level with 1 hole then played up the cliff top before a drive back down. It pays to keep left with several holes bordering the beach but having a double fairway. You do need to keep an eye of players coming in the opposite direction. Limited practice facilities and we didn't stop to use the club house but the village itself is delightful and you can't help feeling your life (and golf) has been enriched by even a brief visit here. Would love to come back and spend a little longer but we had another round planned later the same day!

A little gem

We played late in October, blessed by autumn sunshine. The course is on a small piece of land and predictably tight. The greens were beautiful, especially considering what time of year it was! A very enjoyable round with spectacular views along the coast.

I have always wanted to play at this amazing course and it didn’t disappoint. The staff were so friendly as were the other players I met on the course which was in great condition . Not sure the climb up to the 7th green is very tough for anyone not in good health .

Classic links

Course is a classic links, you play out in one direction and come back in the other, and the wind plays a key role in whether greens are reachable. 6-7-8 is a very difficult stretch of holes if the wind is against. Great view from 7th hole when you go very high up and tee off down on to the links. Enjoyed our twilight round, not many other golfers around but plenty of members of the public, dog walkers etc who were in danger of being hit by wayward balls.

Gem

£15 for a 9 hole round. Played twice in two days and impressed. Greens were exceptional. Views great. Couple of minor issues with dogs on the course taking balls but not enough to spoil the enjoyment.
