KBS PGW Players Graphite Wood Shafts Review

KBS continues to enjoy a prominent role at the forefront of golf shaft innovation and technology, pushing boundaries in search of performance that can help all golfers to elevate their games to another level.

Graphite has become a popular material for drivers and woods, but the manufacturer has even taken that philosophy into irons to great success and acclaim.

Returning to those longer clubs in your bag, KBS, who have always set a high standard for iron and wedge shafts, has in more recent years translated that reputation into woods, with the latest chapter in that evolution being something new for players to deploy, the Players Graphite Wood Shafts (PGW), which have been freshly unveiled in 2025.

Knowing which type of shaft is best for your game could be the key to finding that additional edge on the course.

New for this year, the Players Graphite Wood (PGW) is the latest addition to the KBS Players range of products and has been engineered to suit a variety of different swing speeds, boasting multiple weights and flexes to ensure the adaptability that means a broad spectrum of golfers should expect to gain more distance and accuracy off the tee and beyond courtesy of better launch conditions and optimum spin control.

It will be ideal for those players who require a little more launch to help them gain additional yardage.

The new PGW shafts come in five different weight categories and a wide variety of flexes (from R2 to TXX) that should guarantee that there will be the ideal composition for every golfer out there:

  • 40g (R2, R, S, X)
  • 50g (R2, R, S, X, TX, TXX)
  • 60g (R, S, X, TX, TXX)
  • 70g (R, S, X, TX, TXX)
  • 80g (R, S, X, TX, TXX)

Golfshake's Equipment Expert, Ryan Rastall has taken a closer glance at the new PGW shafts, taking them onto the course at Howley Hall Golf Club in Leeds to see how they perform under full test conditions.

Testing the new shaft in his Callaway Elyte Driver (60g TX), a Wilson DYNAPWR 3-Wood (70g TX) and Wilson DYNAPWR 5-Wood (80g TX), Ryan hits a range of shots across several holes to see the flight, launch conditions, and just how it feels to swing with this latest KBS shaft as part of his clubs.

Ryan also shares Trackman data analysis to uncover some numbers behind the performance of the shafts, which helps to provide an understanding of the type of golfer who these products would be most suitable for - and it might well be you.

You can see Ryan's full test, review and insights, by watching the video below or directly on YouTube.
