Proof That Golf is Set For a BOOM Year in 2025
It's been a pretty glorious start to springtime where we are. Sunshine and pleasant temperatures have been a regular companion to most days of late, meaning that the golf season couldn't have begun in a more embracing way.
With the iconic visuals and intoxicating thrills of Augusta National and The Masters to come, there is no more inspiring time of the year if you're a golfer and it's something that you should absolutely make the most of.
That said, when you see stories of golf clubs being threatened with closure and the challenges that many of our beloved courses face, it's easy to feel anxious about the future of the game.

However, our most recent survey, completed by over 2,500 golfers during a seven-day period in March 2025, has given us reason for optimism that this season could deliver a welcome boom for the sport.

Golf Club Members Are Renewing in Huge Numbers
87% of respondents to the survey were members of a golf club, and a huge 89% of them stated that they had or were going to renew their membership with 9% undecided and just 2% stating no.
What makes this noteworthy is that when we ran a similar survey in 2023 at the same time of year, only 78% stated they had or would renew with a much higher 5% stating they didn't plan to renew at all.
Therefore, this is early evidence that golf club membership finds itself in a far more robust position in 2025, which should offer venues encouragement that their core golfers are satisfied and content with what they are being offered by the club.
More Golfers Plan to Join a Club
We are advocates for the benefits of golf club membership, and while it's not as eye-catching as the numbers planning to renew their membership, of those golfers who stated they weren't members of a club, 19% of them plan to join a club this year, which is a slight increase on the results we found in 2023.
Being a member of a golf club doesn't suit everyone, but the fact that more of you are planning to join is a positive sign that traditional membership still holds an allure for many golfers.
Increasing Number of Golfers Are Keen to Travel
The health of an industry and the general enthusiasm of golfers can be seen through the significant number of them who plan to embark on a golf trip this year.
Just 26% of golf club members are not planning to get away home or abroad in 2025, with only 33% of non-club golfers not expecting to head away on a break, meaning that courses can expect strong visitor revenue this season and resorts can anticipate busy tee sheets during the months ahead.
While it's not always easy to balance their needs alongside those of members, a bustling visitor scene is a major positive for any club, and even more places should expect to receive enquiries as 61% of non-club golfers stated to us that they planned to play more courses in 2025, with 49% of club members reporting this too.
When you think of the potential of that, it paints a rather glowing picture for golf this year.
Golfers Expect to Play More Rounds in 2025
How keen are golfers to play throughout the coming months? Very, is the answer. 39% of club members said they hoped to play more golf in 2025 compared to last year with just 9% stating they thought they would play less, while the remaining 52% planned to play a similar amount of golf as they did last season.
Even more notable is that the non-club golfers surpassed that number with 53% planning to play more than in 2024, 32% about the same, and just 14% likely to play less.
From this recent survey, we have been able to extrapolate rich evidence that membership numbers should rise this year, both in terms of renewals and new arrivals, and that golfers expect to play more often this season, visiting a greater number of courses and travelling to other venues to expand their golfing experience.
The sun is shining - and yes, it's a good time to be a golfer, but it's also a good time to be a golf venue. There is clear enthusiasm out there and it's time to take full advantage of it and make the 2025 season a booming one.
