BROOKS Koepka became the latest $4m man when he defeated Peter Uihlein in a playoff to win the LIV Golf tournament in Jeddah. Both men finished the 54-hole tournament on 198, 12 under par.

Koepka has been dogged by injury in recent years but says he is now fitter than he has been for as long as he can remember. Ironically, he said that what he now needs is to play regularly - this was the seventh of the eight-event series and Koepka now faces a long lay-off before he competes again.

The final tournament takes place in Miami at the end of October, with LIV Golf announcing that there will be 14 tournaments in 2023.

Who Is Brooks Koepka?

Koepka was born in Jupiter, Florida on May 3, 1990. He is 6ft tall and weighs in at 205lb. He turned professional in 2012 and began his career on the Challenge Tour, winning the Challenge de Catalunya. In 2013 he won the Montecchia Open, the Fred Olsen Challenge de Espana and the Scottish Hydro Challenge.

In 2014 he finished fourth at the US Open, second at the Frys.com Open and won the Turkish Airlines Open, finishing the season in eighth place in the Race to Dubai.

The following year he won the Phoenix Open and later that year gave up his membership of the DP World Tour.

His first major success came at the 2017 US Open at Erin Hills and the following year he successfully denied the title. He won the US PGA in 2018 and also successfully defend that the following year. He made the cut in 24 consecutive major starts from 2013-20. Koepka became world number one in October 2018 and held the top spot for 47 weeks. He has won eight times on the PGA Tour.

He represented the USA in the Ryder Cup on three occasions (2016, 2018 and 2021).

He was also involved in a long-running war of words with Bryson DeChambeau.

Koepka averages 311.9 yards from the tee, hits 53.41% of fairways and 63.16% of greens in regulations. He averages 3.86 birdies per round and gets up and down from the sand 50% of the time. Koepka averages 28.98 putts per round.
