Good News for Holiday Seeking Golfers as Government Eases Travel Rules

By: | Wed 08 Jul 2020

Golfers who are looking to book a golfing holiday abroad received some good news as the Government has removed quarantine for travellers entering England from dozens of countries which now pose a “reduced risk” from coronavirus.

From 10 July, golfers can travel to and from such golf holidaying hotspots as France, Mauritius, Spain and Andorra without any limitations, paving the way for a boom in post-lockdown trips to these destinations. Greece also gets the nod from the Government. However, while travellers from the country will not have to quarantine, UK golfers won’t be able to fly over to Greece until at least mid-July.

In total, the Government has listed 59 destinations from which Brits can return without having to quarantine for 14 days. These are: Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba, Croatia, Curaçao, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominica, Faroe Islands, Fiji, Finland, France, French Polynesia, Germany, Greece, Greenland, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Malta, Mauritius, Monaco, Netherlands, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Réunion, San Marino, Serbia, Seychelles, South Korea, Spain, St Barthélemy, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Pierre and Miquelon, Switzerland, Taiwan, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, Vatican City, Vietnam and Britain’s 14 Overseas Territories.

Furthermore, the Department of Transport says more countries may be added to this list “over the coming days”.

For golfers looking to take advantage of the lowered restrictions, while still being vigilant about coronavirus, Golfshake’s Travel Section has details on all the best resorts.

In our Golf Travel Hub, golfers can browse amazing exclusive golf trip offers, as well as in-depth feature reviews from the Golfshake team and destination guides, which give insight and information on playing golf in the UK, Europe and the around the world.

Our latest deals for Spain, which has received the Government’s stamp of approval for travel, include 3 nights and 2 rounds at the Hacienda Del Alamo 4* Resort, from £145 to £215 and the same package in the Mar Menor Residences, from £149 to £159.

Another top area to visit in the country is the Costa del Sol, boasting some of Spain’s finest family hotels, alongside sandy beaches, and many restaurants, cafes and shops.

In terms of resorts, the Eurostars Mijas Golf and Spa impressed our team last year, while Las Brisas Golf Club, Santa Clara and Finca Cortesin are only a few of the top-quality nearby courses.

Also likely to prove popular among tourists is the Dordogne Valley in France, where Golfshake Ambassador Andrew Picken enjoyed a getaway last year and discovered such stunning courses as Golf de la Marterie and Aubazine Golf Course, as well as the excellent hospitality and climate.

Other highly rated places to stay in France include Golf d’Hardelot and Le Touquet Golf Resort.
