What The Club Says

Designed by Robert Trent Jones Snr, Los Olivos incorporates an abundance of trees to test the golfer. This fine track offers a different challenge to its sister course as it features narrow tree-lined fairways with smaller undulating greens. Well known for its great condition, this woodland layout compliments Los Lagos superbly well.

Los Lagos - With its 6,536 meters, this course is the larger of the two in Mijas Golf. Keeping the original design of Robert Trent Jones Sr., the course has been totally refurbished in 2012. Los Lagos is a course with soft slopes, wide fairways and few forest trees obstacles, but defended by many bunkers and not less than nine lakes, from which the course gets its name, eager to trap each and anyone's ball. The greens are large and flat with sensitive undulations and the wide tees can be accommodated to reduce or enlarge the difficulty to choice.

Maintenance

You need a good sense of humor to pay almost €100 for a poorly maintained course (we played Los Olivos).
Advantage: unlike in the past, very few people play there now.

Always enjoy playing the Mijas courses. Course was in very good condition. Some work taking place on par 3 hole, with tee moved forward several yards.

lovely course olive trees and orange trees line the fairways. Lots of water to lose your balls in. bunkers are a bit too many stones, but everything else is good.

I played Los Lagos in late April in the AM. Initially I was worried of the 6800 yard course and the challenge it would pose. However, it was instead my favourite round of my trip in the Costa Del Sol.\\The course plays much shorter than the 6800 yards it is on paper. It is incredibly forgiving and wide, with little trees to eat up your balls. There is also large downhill par 4\'s which knock off a fair few yards (Hole 10 and Hole 13 specifically). The front nine poses a harder challenge for those who spray it was the majority of the 9 lakes appearing on the first 7 holes. But this makes for an interesting challenge and some great shots over water from both tee shots and into the green.\\The back nine offers a challenge in a different way, with fairway bunkers positioned awkwardly and some holes allowing for no error shooting onto the green with all four sides being covered by bunkers. But I found the back nine to feel like a different course to the front nine which was an exciting challenge.\\The tee boxes and fairways were in incredibly good condition and there is little rough on the course. The greens rolled pure and even with its fair share of pitch marks. The course itself is flat and the greens are fast and it is difficult to get the ball stopping on them, but once on them, your issue will be pace control rather than bad reads.\\I really enjoyed Los Lagos and can see why it is ranked so highly in Spain, I would definitely play here again if I come back to the Costa Del Sol and would recommend this course to all.

Most playable course in the area

We have played Lagos many times and it is always in great condition. It is very generous off the tee but with plenty of water around it is a challenge. It is also pretty long but doesn't play as such. A realy mix of playable holes mixed in with tough ones, notably the par 5 5th and par 3 8th. Definitely the most enjoyable place to play in the area and great value for money, particuarly the twilight rate.

Avoid Mijas Los Olivos

I like in Mijas and play Mijas Golf regularly however Los Olivos is in the worst condition I have EVER seen on any golf course anywhere in the world.
There was literally NO grass on at least 4 of the greens and most of the others were unplayable also.
The bunkers were deep with mud and full of water and only the white tees were in use due to damage.
