KBS Shafts - Player Driven, Tour Proven

Since it the brand first emerged in 2008, KBS – created by the esteemed shaft designer Dr. Kim Braly – has produced advanced steel shaft technology built from Tour Player feedback. The Beginning

The company was founded by Dr. Braly, who remains the Director of Research and Development and Tour Operations at KBS. Following the significant legacy of his own father in the development of golf equipment, Kim designed the Console Sand Wedge and the DynaPhase Golf Clubs, which were noted as being the first widely produced clubs that were made with titanium.

Working on club design and shaft technology with his father, Kim sought the finest golfers on the planet to assist in the creation of their designs, forming what was one of the first ‘Tour vans’ to be seen on the PGA Tour in the 80s.

KBS Technology

KBS prides itself on producing the most advanced steel shaft technologies in the industry. Through the manufacturing and design expertise of Kim Braly, and the feedback of the game’s best players, the brand has made rapid strides as its looks to develop shafts that heighten energy transfer that results in a comfortable feel through impact, and have been proven to create a piercing trajectory, tighter dispersion, and increased ball control, characteristics that the best golfers find desirable.

To achieve these objectives, KBS works to enhance player performance by providing a striking fusion of shaft weight and flex; essentially determining that when the shaft weight increases, the flex itself stiffens to correlate with that change. This works in five-gram increments, moving from 95g to 130g, and has been built around the premise of Cycle Per Minute (CPM) matching.

However, the reason for this progressive weight and flex is twofold. It ensures that the shaft weight and flex is based on an individual golfer’s swing speed when fitted. Additionally, this means that each shaft is precisely matched in both flex and weight for a more consistent level of performance.

The Products

The KBS Tour $-Taper ($54.95 per shaft) – just launched in 2017 - has been engineered to deliver a supreme level of feel at the same time as providing shot workability and tight dispersion for golfers searching for a tour shaft that possesses mid-trajectory and low spin performance.

Renowned for the quality of their steel shafts, KBS has ventured into graphic technology with the innovative Tour Hybrid Graphite Prototype ($175.95 per shaft).
