Nicklaus - very nice
A good course, well laid out with a good mix of straightforward & some testing holes. I particularly liked 7 & 15 where the brook across the fairway makes you think strategically. The greens were good, but the bunkers were mostly awful.
Of the two courses, this was in slightly better condition, but I do prefer the layout of the Cheshire, especially the back 9.
For £20 before 8am, you can't really complain

Great course and in great condition considering recent weather. A little boggy to he side of fairways, but own fault for not keeping to middle of them.Reviewer Rating

Nice course
Fairways were in poor condition, probably due to the warm summer. Long walks between tees with very poor signage.(Round played: Aug 2018 - Score: 101 Handicap: 23)

Forget the critics -the Nicklaus is great course
Greens were superb. The best view was probabaly from the outstanding/breathtaking 1st tee but even so it was a great course wiht a number of unique holes like 6 and 17 both (around a lake). cracking golf holes, and also 7th- we were stumped where we were going at first. but another great hole ! 15th was a great challenge too.Only downside was the lack of signage once you#d played 8 and 15 we got a bit lost!
But be warned there is a fair amount of walking and carrying up the 18th is a fitness test!
Thoroughly enjoyed though played badly!
I used Open Fairways for 2 for 1 so played for £27.50 each............i wouldn't pay £55!
Great steak sandwich in the lovely terrace of the Clubhouse which is a bit special

Worth The Trip.
A nice course with some quirky holes where you are forced into making a decision. They are not all get the big dog out every hole as a few you gotta think about placement for second shots. An amazing 17th hole , Par 4 where if you are a big hitter then you can give it a bash but us mere mortals tend to drive up the middle and then accross the lake. The 7th is very similair where if you take the risk you can reap the reward. The only minus is there were a lot of societies all there at the same time and although no problems with the golf and the accomodation. The dinner , service and food all suffered because of this.(Round played: Aug 2018 - Score: 88 Handicap: 12.3)

The better of the two courses.
Carden Park itself is a lovely place to stay and play with excellent facilities in the Hotel itself. The Nicklaus course is more open than the tree lined Cheshire course with some scenic holes throughout, the 17th should be the signature finish in front of the Hall itself. The rough is unforgiving and the grass a little long on our visit which penalised those who left the fairway. Bunkers were a bit hit and miss with a lack of sand a problem. Staff in the club were excellent and nothing was any trouble ,the guys/girls looking after your clubs and the buggies especially helpful.
