Classic links course that takes some working out. Almost every hole plays in a different direction so it can be somewhat beguiling. The fairways don't always reward a good drive either but the greens were in good nick for the time of year and rough not as penal as in high summer. Great value if you can find good weather before 1st April.

From the very start you knew it was going to be a good day. Light winds, superb facilities. The pro was ever so helpful. Played two rounds in the day and was left wanting more. Will be visiting again for sure!

Fantastic course, very expensive but you pay for the prestige of playing at the course where The Open was held, once in a lift time

Just completed a truly memorable experience at Royal St Georges. Stayed overnight at the club in the Dormy House which gives me a view of the course from my window and really made me feel part of the club for a day. Met Geoff the Steward who could not have been more helpful. The had a great cooked breakfast before heading out into 30mph winds to play this years Open venue. My day ticket included a wonderful carvery meal in the dining room (jacket and tie required and the followed this up with another 18 holes of Championship golf course this time in sunshine but still a strong wind. This is not the best course in Britain by a long shot but is still clearly a very fine links course and a stern test of your shot making ability. Very well conditioned despite the many GUR bunkers for the Open. However as an overall experience it was truly unforgettable and a relative bargain for £215 for 1 nights B&B, 36 holes and an excellent lunch. Service throughout was excellent and very welcoming. Although beware the long walk to the 10th if you are teeing off from there!

Currently ranked 2nd best course in England and the venue for this years Open Championship. I travelled to Kent to take advantage of the £90 Winter rate. The link attached gives you as much detail and opinion as you could want - http://www.top100golfcourses.co.uk/htmls
ite/productdetails.asp?id=19. I appear to be in the minority in considering the ranking to be too high. Yes, there is plenty of history, the course is a majestic links in places and is in great condition throughout, however, there are some ordinary holes, the scenery is ugly in places and the clubhouse is unwelcoming. For my own part, give me Sunningdale, Woodhall Spa, Walton Heath and others above RSG but this won't stop me seeking out the likes of Birkdale, L&SA, Liverpool etc for more links experiences.

this course never stops changing, the scenery is brilliant, weather is often its own from the rest of the county.

but when its bad it can really be a nightmare. though iv seen this very few times, in summer its always worth the 2 hour drive

With the upcoming Open in 2011, the course is being prepared, with some of the bunkers being GUR, but this in no way detracted from this being one of the finest courses I have ever had the priveledge of playing.
The members and staff at the club were most helpful and welcoming. I fully recommend playing this course, a fantastic test of Golf.
