Lovely parkland setting with a magnificent 1st high on the railway embankment by the clubhouse. The remodelling is bedding in well and the only shame is the 18th Green is now a long way from the clubhouse.

It's really a tale of two nines--the front nine is relatively nondescript with holes running along an embankment, or near the river. The most exciting shot is your opening drive from an elevated tee by the clubhouse. Then, the course is fairly flat, so easier to walk than most courses in Yorkshire. The back nine must be Mckenzie's work because the rippling or undulating fairways and highly contoured greens would be typical. The holes are fun to play and the two par threes offer variety. To play 17 and 18 you go back through an escarpment and the look changes once again. There is quite a long walk back to the clubhouse from 18, which could be paved or at least graded so you aren't traversing an incline...with a discounted rate this course is a delight to play, and the greens and bunkering are in good tick.

Played in Rabbits comp on Sunday 1st September. Weather was cool to begin with but became pleasant by about 11am.

The course is very scenic and mature. The fairways were all in very good condition but unfortunately the greens had been getting worked by the Groundstaff which made then a little bobbly in places. Very welll organised and I shall enter next year despite having a terrible front nine.

I am off 28 so the course is a challenge but a fair one and the 16/17 handicappers playing with me also thought so.

Not what you expect

played wetherby in august , from the drive in i thought the 1st and 18th looked spectacular, however the rest of the course is very flat and a little boring , the new 17th is ok IMO the 18th is excellent but the greens weren’t right and we’re a lot slower than the rest of the course , excellent bar and outside seating area , friendly welcome and good food , overall an ok course and some decent holes , worth playing if you live local but wouldn’t rush back

Average

Not really very exciting and I found a few holes questionable in their design, maybe because we were off yellows and didn't see it from the back tees. Greens were slow, but true. The two new holes are the outstanding feature. The clubhouse was lively, with lots enjoying food. Although, having been in there no more than 12 seconds I was asked to remove my cap. I was about to, but clearly not quick enough for that member. Not the welcome I wanted, and won't be back. Plenty of better strips / clubs in the area.

Slow greens but nice layout

Very slow greens but told that possible drought on way so left them long!!! Some great holes but a few mediocre ones. Great 9th and 18th with ditches to get over from @ 100yds...both par 5's.

Two temporary holes could have been better in terms of quality of the greens. Rest of the course is a good test for all levels of golfers. Good scenery as playing the course. Great first hole.

Played in early Sept with 19 golfers. The course was in good condition with decent greens and some interesting holes. It wasn't the favourite course that we played but I won, so I thought it was well worth playing if you are in the area.

The new course layout needs time to settle down, but should be very good in say 5-10 years.
