Neglected
This used to be a pleasant little course but is now suffering badly from lack of attention. Many of the tees are a mess, the first cut is long enough to be losing balls and there are two ladies tees where your shot is blocked by trees. I can live with the woolly greens - good for an high handicapper!Although it's not the most important thing, there is no availability of snacks/drinks. The ?clubhouse? (basically where you pay or use the loo) is a sad looking area offering nothing but a toilet! There was a mobile snack wagon in the car park but it was closed when we visited.

a very flat course, lots of walking between holes, nice big fairways, a little boring on the front 9 but its a good price for what you get, all in all quite good, tee boxes not mown.Reviewer Rating

Good course
The price is right for this course. The girl in the shop is friendly and always make you welcome. The course its self is of a good standard and well looked after.
Friendly players who speak and let you play threw.
Clubhouse could be better, needs a pro shop.

Great municipal!
This is a really good value for money municipal course. Some nice challenging holes particularly on the back nine. Always in good condition.Only downside is that on last couple of visits have noticed a drop in etiquette standards. I.e. jeans and tracksuit bottoms being allowed on the course.

Poor condition
Played this course o couple of times over the past few months because very cheap st ?10 per round but you get what you pay for and so far I'm not seeing any improvement on the greens fairways are in good condition and volunteers running the shop are very friendly but greens are shocking and unable to put properly on most. Shame really as would be a nice course yo play especially at the price. 18th is a long par 5 and all up hill but some nice holes and will keep going back but only to keep the swing goingReviewer Rating

Really dont understand negative reviews on trip advisor? My brother and I were looking for a mutual meeting point for golf 4 years ago..After several phone calls and the usual visitor snobby response I contacted Spofforth. The immediate response from the elderly gentleman who has now sadly passed away was brilliant..just turn up and play son nay bother....0640 start..nay bother just pay halfway or when you finsh !!! Have been meeting there several times a year ever since...might not be in the top ten but the family course is well looked after and has improved dramatically recentlyI can honestly recommend this course if you want a nice friendly inexpensive game
We will continue to meet there and thank you to all the staff...ps prepare for the back 9 !!!!

Really good value
For ?15 a round midweek I think it's superb value. It's well suited to anyone with a handicap of 10 or more as you can stray offline and still have a good chance of finding your ball. You're not going to be punished with horrible long grass but there are plenty of trees on the course so it's not stupidly easy either. The club house is very modest, just toilets and a shop to buy a chocolate bar and a hot drink, but the staff are very welcoming. The course is always in good condition and there's plenty of wildlife to look out for as well (buzzards, kites, sparrowhawks, deer and a couple of hares). The front 9 is fairly straight up and down but is quite long and often into wind so can be quite challenging. The back 9 is a lot more varied with no 2 holes feeling the same. All in all I'd highly recommend it if you fancy good value golf but aren't bothered about a fancy club house.Reviewer Rating

Good course.......
£15 for a round of golf on Wednesday afternoon, just turn up and play. The course was in good condition, the greens were mainly good but on some they were a little patchy, mainly round the edges and the bunkers were a little lumpy! (one of many courses with bunker issues it seems!).The course layout was pretty good, a little straight up and down for the first 9 but the second nine was much more interesting with a few hills and valley's thrown in. A decent challenge at a good price and value.

Inexpensive municipal course in beautiful surroundings
Inexpensive municipal course which is set in beautiful picturesque surroundings. There are big open fairways which are very forgiving for the occasional stray shot off the tee. The clubhouse is very basic as are the general facilities, but I will definitely play here again on a sunny day. Well worth the journey from North Leeds.Reviewer Rating
