What the club says: Located only 2 miles from the centre of the famous spa town, Harrogate Golf Club is a mature parkland course in a picturesque setting and benefits from spectacular floral displays in the Spring.

The current course measures a little less than 6198 yards and is on fairly flat terrain. It is widely regarded as a fair test of golf, requiring accuracy rather than distance off the tee. Its Mackenzie style greens and tree-lined fairways provide an enjoyable challenge for all handicaps. The course is invariably presented in first class condition and many visiting parties come back year after year. The course layout penalises any golfer who strays off the fairway, subtly placed bunkers and copses of trees require the golfer to adopt careful thought and accuracy in order to better their par.

Lovely course and very well looked after and maintained. First time to play here front nine are not too hard but back nine will soon let you know it’s a challenging track. Overall great day here!

Nice course

Pleasant round - nothing overly remarkable/memorable about the course, yet nothing wrong with it. Held up well in wintry conditions, greens were good.

Excellent

A very warm day. The course was in excellent condition with little sign of the heavy rain over the winter and early spring. Greens were true and fairly quick, but tricky to read without local knowledge. With nobody else out on the course at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon it was just lovely.

Played in early Sept with 19 golfers. We all enjoyed the course. A good variation of holes with fairly easy walking. The staff went out of their way to provide food after a bit of a mix-up.

Played in a Yorkshire county event. Course in great condition but round made difficult by heavy rain which set in after 10 holes. Tees good, greens excellent, layout good. Great course.

Played on 13th September as part of a group of 12. None of us had played at Harrogate before - this was day one of a three day trip that we do every year. We normally play top 100 courses in the Yorkshire area - Moortown last year. This year, to help keep costs down we went for a lower cost option. Whilst Harrogate has a good layout with lots of interesting holes, the tees and particularly the greens were not in a good state, the latter having been recently microtined and scarified. I accept that work needs to be done like this on the greens, but apart from this, they were in generally poor condition - although I have to say they were still firm and quick. As with all golf courses, my own included, there are no doubt days were the course if in great condition and other days where it isn't at it's best, but I can only judge and review it as we found it. Would I book it again in advance for our trip - no. But if you could tell me that the green and tees were in good condition, I would definitely like to go back and play again. Soup and sandwich lunch wasn't great - if there was a next time, then I wouldn't pre-book and would instead just order from their lunch menu.

Played this course in an Open Competition yesterday for first time. Was impressed with overall setup, nice clubhouse, good pro shop, friendly staff and members. Good practice facilities, large putting green, chipping area, practice ground. Course itself quite tight, plenty of trees, need to keep straight to score well. Course overall in great condition. Fast greens in excellent condition. Long par 3s off whites, possible card wreckers. Will certainly return if only to improve my score.

Long Pars 3's on a shortish course but testing none the less , beautifully laid out and picturesque , great fairways and fast greens make this a test for all golfers , my only niggle was i thought the Tee boxes were a bit uneven and it made for an awkward stance on some...

This is a very nice parkland course suitable for all handicappers. The course is challenging with the narrow tree lined fairways punishing any wayward shots. All in all this is a course worth playing on.

Only started playing this summer, so i have limited experience of what a good course is. I can say, that i had great time. I play off 28, managed a birdie and a chance of two or three par's. A picturesque setting. immaculate and narrow fairways, well maintained greens, challenging holes where you can use a varied club selection off the tee. I'll be back for more.

Played here on a couresy round as my own home course was been used for some competition or other. Course was in great condition,, even after all the rain.

Some great holes and in the summer the club house and grounds look a bit colonial - that's a compliment by the way! It looks great.

We had also heard that the club has dropped the joining fee for new members, instead of it been £600 and then a further £600 joining fee it's a straight £600 which is great value.

Although course is only 69SSS it plays a lot longer abd there are some tough holes.
