Tough but fair course. Beautiful scenery. Conditioning of the course is fantastic post-lockdown. Greens running smooth and fast.

Don't get the hate..
Played this course for free with sgs ticket, don't understand all the criticism this course receives.Layout was very interesting and varied, lots of memorable holes with a good mix of short and longish holes, nothing too long here though, very enjoyable!.
Condition was decent to good, greens fine if nothing amazing.
I'll certainly be back as a paying customer.

First time played course. Grt lay out to the course with grt scenary. Course is quiet tight so you have to play straight. Greens in very good condition and take a lot reading. A little gem this one.

What a great track. Cleverly laid out, fantastic scenery, great test of Golf. The only drawback was how wet the fairways were, but I thought the greens held up well considering.
Good shots are rewarded & poor ones punished severely, hence 6 penalty points with 3 lost balls!
Service in the clubhouse & the hotel was fantastic, the staff couldn't do enough for you
Will definitely be visiting here again

Played the course today and it was a tough test of my golfing ability. Greens and fairways in excellent condition but tees need some attention. Very well laid out course and I really enjoyed thinking my way round it, It\'s not your usual ripping a Driver at every hole! Hitting fairways is a must to score round here, hit the rough and its a lost ball. Beautiful scenery and wildlife. I\'ll definitely be back

Play a variety of golf courses and westerwood is a magnificent test of golf. Great holes and great views. Greens are good although course can be wet quite a bit. The 12th is a good hole just low hdps don't like tricky tough holes. Pro,s would find it a test. A really good day out and if you play to your hdp you,ve played out your boots.

Played Westerwood late on in the season. The weather was very foggy and as a result the ground surface was quite wet and so there was very little run on fairways or greens. But despite this the fairways and greens were in great shape. This is a well kept course and remarkably quite despite close proximity to rail and road networks. Very good day out.

Played Westerwood yesterday, it has been wet recently but the course held up very well. They have just spent over £20k on equipment to keep the golf course well drained. Me and mate both loved the course. Layout was excellent, views were nice, greens were tough which was a pleasant surprise. Some very testing holes which was nice. Requires some thinking of the tee. 12th hole was a great test of skill and awareness.
Me and my mate enjoyed the course that much we enquired about memberships, which we will both be going ahead with. Price of membership is excellent for such a beautiful course.

free round with voucher. was worried after reading negative reviews but perhaps due to good weather on the day found course in excellent nick. tees a little worn but no big deal. fairways good , no drainage probs at all. greens fantastic and course layout interesting and testing. people moaning about the twelfth should understand golf not all about smashing ball as far as poss. card for course clearly shows dog leg at 170 yds your choice, lay up or cut around corner. dont blast a driver straight into trees (as i did incidently) then moan about it. excellent day out

Really good course, tricky 12th hole. Some holes are not too good in rain so maybe best on a dry day. Greens are in excellent condition. Overall I thought course was great and lots of great scenery!

Played Westerwood today as part of a 3 ball. We were advised that the course had been closed the previous day, and that there may be some lying water on the course, and that bunkers may have water in them. Although the fairways at parts were spongy underfoot they weren`t un-playable. We found the course in very good condition and enjoyed the varied holes. The greens were excellent all things considering. We really enjoyed our round which cost £20pp just walking in off the street. Have heard it`s cheaper booking online.

Excellent course with gorgeous views, but was very wet underfoot after a LOT of rain recently. The 16th especially was swamp-like, although all of the greens held up really well. The back 9 is probably better (and harder) than the front.
I was a little apprehensive of the 12th after reading the comments on here, but didn't think it was as bad as people had made out. I imagine that it is very tough for higher handicap players and isn't a lot easier for mid-handicappers, but it is not unbeatable if you get a good drive away.
Loved the par 5 14th, and the par 3 15th is another great hole with the rocks and the waterfall behind it.

Golf course improvements
Westerwood has improved the drainage and the general overall condition of the course and bringing in contractors to help with the greens has made a big difference . Still a way to go but course is is heading in right directionReviewer Rating

Great layout
The course is laid out superbly, with lots of little tests & the opportunity to go for a few bigger hits.The condition is good, but not as good as a couple of years ago. Dont let this put you off though, it's a lovely course to play.
Top this with the view of the Campsie Hills & you have a great combination.
The hotel ticks all the boxes as well.

Worth visiting.
Course design/layout very good, but very challenging. Even better players than me find it so too. Condition of greens are improving but course can be a bit "marshy" in places after wet weather. Players could take a little more care in respect to their divots and pitch marks.Reviewer Rating
