What the club says: The Westerwood is one of the premier golf hotels in Scotland our magnificent 18 hole, par 71 golf course is a feast for the senses, transporting you as you meander through a paradise of silver birches, firs and heather.
The course was designed by Seve Ballesteros and Dave Thomas and features a wide range of challenges for golfers of all abilities, including water hazards and devilish bunkers, which would challenge players of the highest calibre.
The course is surrounded by sparkling scenery with many holes overlooking the Kilsyth and campsite hills. Our fifteenth hole designed by Seve himself is stunning, at only 165 yards will take your breath away. Hitting from above to a green surrounded by a 60ft rock face, pond this is not for the faint hearted.

Improving!
Greens and course are improving after a few years of not being as good as it could have been. Players need to have more respect for the course and replace divots etc.

Great layout
The course is laid out superbly, with lots of little tests & the opportunity to go for a few bigger hits. The condition is good, but not as good as a couple of years ago. Dont let this put you off though, it's a lovely course to play.
Top this with the view of the Campsie Hills & you have a great combination.
The hotel ticks all the boxes as well.

Worth visiting.
Course design/layout very good, but very challenging. Even better players than me find it so too. Condition of greens are improving but course can be a bit "marshy" in places after wet weather. Players could take a little more care in respect to their divots and pitch marks.

Great course that keeps you on your toes

Great challenging course
Great condition and really enjoyed the day.

Don't get the hate..
Played this course for free with sgs ticket, don't understand all the criticism this course receives.Layout was very interesting and varied, lots of memorable holes with a good mix of short and longish holes, nothing too long here though, very enjoyable!.
Condition was decent to good, greens fine if nothing amazing.
I'll certainly be back as a paying customer.

Best the course has been in a few years
Course in good condition this year. Has benefited from the dry weather.

If it wasn't free i wouldn't play it
This course is not the main focus of this complex, it has been neglected, it could do with a face lift and maybe then it would be worth it.(Round played: Jun 2018 - Score: 102 Handicap: 25.8)

Take wellies!
Myself and a friend played in a pairs comp through Golf Empire. Only £12 including coffee and bacon roll. Bacon roll was self-service and so I piled it in. Good food, nice coffee! However when I asked for a dry roll a miserable little man mumbled 'there's always one', so we replied with, 'then you should probably should have had some ready'. The starter was a disinterested and surly as well. The chap giving out score cards and taking the fees was a nice guy and we had a good chat to him.
Now for the course. A great layout. No complaints there. If it was in the Algarve it would be an absolute gem....however it isn't! Every hole was a boggy mess and the greens were almost floating in places. Yes we'd had rain the night before, but other courses are perfectly playable. This was a 5 hr slog thanks to backspin from drives and playing partners losing balls on the quagmire-like fairways!
To summarise: I would play again, but only after a period of sustained dry weather. Recommend their front of house staff get some customer service training or try a different career.
Otherwise, avoid!

Excellent Course & Set up!!
Excellent friendly staff, course playing well. Good to see a lot of effort being put in to maintain the course & get it to the standard it deserves - well done guys!!!(Round played: May 2018 - Score: 80 Handicap: 14)
