Enjoyable course
Nice modern course offering a good chance to score well. Quite long and includes the novelty, long (albeit bland) Par 6. The course is quite undulating but with good course management is very scoreable. Terrific finishing hole, par 3 island green in the middle of a fishing lake, but just a wedge so nothing too trickyReviewer Rating

Good course
the course is in good condition the greens are true but are a bit slow need another cut.The eighth is a bit of a challenge at 666 yards but it is a par 6 and that with the island green on the eighteenth make it an entertaining course(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 93 Handicap: 15.8)

A bit Mickey Mouse
The course "boasts" the UK's longest hole (Par 6), but unfortunately it's a bit of a joke. It's like someone woke up and thought "I'll do that for no other reason than I can". It's the 8th hole and it runs parallel to the old 8th with the old 8th fairway in play as well, so off the tee you have almost no fear at all. You have a total fairway available of at least 120 yards width. And the new fairway is nowhere near fairway standard. It's like short cut rough ground and in many cases not been seeded or tended well at all, so in the wet is pretty muddy. In addition there is a patch about 100 yards depth of ground in front of the new green that doesn't drain at all, so it's basically a quagmire. SO if you're ball lands there, you have to pick and place, but it's so vast you're stuck where to place! It's s shame because the new green complex is excellent, surrounded by bunkers, but there is again huge amounts of open space behind and to the right of the green that is apparently in play as well, so even if you miss the green, as long as you aim right, you're in no danger whatsoever. It's poorly thought out and poorly implemented. There's another 5 Par 5's on the course as well. There are some very good holes. The 5th and the 7th are both par 5' and are as good as any you will play on any course, so it's a shame there are so many duff holes. Whoever planned the layout didn't really know what they are doing, or they had a clear plan for a few holes and just shoe-horned the rest in to what land was left. There are two setions with parallel but opposite facing holes that are too close together so they have declared the opposite fairways on each of these sections as out of bounds. So you have inbound out of bounds! It's nonsense and from what I can tell, mostly ignored by players.
There's a novelty island hole par 3 to finish. Fun, but again doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the course.
Even though it's still technically winter, the weather this season has not been as bad as other years, yet the fairways are muddied, with not enough grass. The tee-boxes on many holes are an embarrassment, you can barely get your footing stable to tee off. Just use mats and let your tee's recover over winter!
This is the fourth time I have played the course and will be my last. As a payer coming back to golf after many years I wanted a course to play close to work and just get me back into it, hence I've played it a few times, but now having played on many other significantly superior courses, it's allowed me to see it in a different light and unfortunately, I haven't found it difficult to find faults.
Sorry if others disagree with this review, but I was left feeling extremely disappointed by this visit.

Worth it for the 'island green'
Pace of play was good, greens were decent, fairways average, quite a lot of work being done to improve the course and yardages subsequently difficult to establish on GPS. Worth playing just for the island green(Round played: Jun 2018 - Score: 82 Handicap: 16.6)

Average but cheap buggues
I've played here many many times and the tee boxes are ALWAYS poor or very poor. Pace of play is an issue tooThe course has a good blend of variety. The new 660 yard par 6 is still bro g worked on but is a quirky change. I still hit the green in 3 shits so whilst it's long it is still playable

The greens are a bit bobbly at the moment and the fairways a little bare. hopefully the course condition will improve over the next month or so.
