strategic golf, wide fairways
Walton Heath is a well thought out golf course. Even though the tee shots are quite generous, the bunkering in such that you need to be careful not to find them. The tee boxes and fairways had suffered due to the lack of rain. The greens were quite receptive and putted fast and true. Par 3's were quite a challenge due to their length off the men's tournament tees. I found the topography a bit monotonous, being basically a flat layout.Reviewer Rating

Wonderful heathland course suffering from drought
This is a wonderful golfing venue. Both courses are excellent, the Old shading the New . Sadly droughts had ravaged many fairways leaving conditions requiring pick and place which was not a local rule on our day - a lot of work to be done before the IAG Open comes! Because of COVID restrictions the clubhouse provision was necessarily very limited(Round played: Aug 2020 - Score: 96 Handicap: 12)

Tough track
With the fairways being so dry this makes it very difficult to control your tee shots - there is a possibility of the ball bouncing anywhere Great test of golf though!(Round played: Jun 2020 - Score: 83 Handicap: 6.4)

Classic old heathland in great condition
Walton Heath is world renowned and even after all the rain we have had recently it was in spectacular condition. It is a proper championship course, very tough, especially if you are not finding fairways. But if you do, you can score, depending on where they put the pins - there are some severely sloping parts of the greens. I played the Old Course, which I had previously found very difficult, but it is a course that you get to know the more you play it. Well worth playing if you get the chance.Reviewer Rating

Golfing Heaven
I am an 18 handicap in my 60's so I have reached the stage of life when I treat new golfing experiences with excitement and trepidation in equal amounts. I need not have worried. After an horrendously wet winter I was transported to high summer golfing conditions with the added twist of the sort of features that I have never really seen before in all my years of optimistic swinging. Coffin bunkers, stealthily placed on the edges of raised greens. More conventional bunkers, but laced with heather tops. It is unusual, perhaps proposterous, to encounter such a double hazard, but, hey, you are out to have fun so should only smile! I have not played two rounds in a day for many years but I survived and to my surprise broke 100 on both courses. The club offers tremendous value for money as a full society catered package, most probably the best in this renowned golfing area. They fly under the golfing radar these days, no silly deals or frothy social media for them, but as soon as you enter the unassuming clubhouse you realise you are somewhere truly special.Reviewer Rating

Classic heathland, stunning challenge
It is with good reaason that Walton Heath is so highly regarded. The New course is a bit more playable than the Old, more foregiving off the tee and with fewer fairway bunkers. But it is still a real challenge and you must play from the fairway as the heather is penal. Beautiful turf, large subtle-breaking greens. A real pleasure to play.Reviewer Rating

Walton Heath New Course
Played on a very cold frosty day. The course stood up very well but the heather is a real problem. Not very long but very difficult to find a ball. Needs reducing. The course is flattish, quite interesting and very good greens. Club house excellent and friendly staff and good parking.Reviewer Rating
