Winter golf

Front 9 is tight and packed with bunkers so accuracy off the tee is key. Back 9 starts to open up and is arguably more scenic and interesting. Played after heavy rainfall and the course was boggy in places but generally playable, with a couple of temporary greens. Clubhouse and facilities were of a high standard and will look forward to returning in better conditions.

A little gem

Tucked away down a private road bordered by big houses this 1924 course is lovely. Fairways lined with mature trees. 6,218 yards off the yellows. Nice club house (bit of a warren) but nicely appointed and good staff. Bunkers were excellent - there are quite a few. A few dog legs but a very interesting and enjoyable course. Only negative was the difference between the practice green and the actual greens on the couse. Practice green was medium fast, greens were medium. Practice net could be better set up as the ball kept trying to escape past me as the curtain is so close. There is a driving range also but did not get there. Overall one to definitely revisit.

Second time around here. Course itself is interesting and a good test and was in excellent condition. Tree lined but fairly generous off the tee. Greens a little slower than expected but assumed to be due to recent amount of rain. Clubhouse and bar are both nice places to spend time and reasonably priced. Were on a society day and the club did an excellent job of looking after us. Will play again in future.

Classy golf club, very stress-free place to play golf

This is a club that exudes class from the moment you arrive yet there is no snobbery. You are made to feel very welcome before, during and after the round. The course has a bit of an American feel to it. It is classic course with a great collection of par 3 and par 5 holes. Some of the par 4 holes can feel a bit similar but the enjoyment of the course comes from knowing that you can be a bit loose at times off the tee but you will generally find and be able to hit your next shot. But there will be trees in your way. Bunkers have some of the best sand you will find in them but unfortunately the members seem unable to use rakes very well! The greens were a bit slow when I played but, given the severe slopes on the greens, I'm not sure you can cut them short or they could be unplayable. Great outdoor bar area right by the 18th green. Well worth a visit.

Could be better, once was.

Generally the fairways were not in great condition. The tee boxes need some TLC too. General opinion amongst our group was that the place needs to up it's game. Not by much, but enough to bring it back to what it once was.
Feels like this is a function venue over being a golf club. Service wasn't that great but the food was pretty good.

Lovely old course layout

Built in the 20's and is a pleasure to play here. Tree lined and quite tight at times. Shame about the Bunkers and the Greens. Bunkers look like the have sand but under the initial 1/2 inch hard as nails. Greens are towards the end of their recovery but quite bumpy. Need rolling. A Good test of keeping the ball straight. Mind you quite difficult to lose your ball...as none of us did!

Parkland course with tree-lined fairways and an awful lot of bunkers. Greens were being treated with pellets of fertiliser so putting was difficult, but they would probably be nice normally. Not much in the way of rough or undergrowth so it's possible to get round easily without losing your ball, however side slopes and well-defended greens make it a tricky course. Excellent facilities.

2nd visit here. First time was late June Last year and having been really impressed with the course conditioning in particular, we were looking forward to coming back. Unfortunately our expectations for late March were probably too high, and it appeared the greens had been hollow tined in the last day or two, so conditioning was no where near what we'd seen in June. Nonetheless the course had clearly suffered over the winter with lots of bare patches on both fairways and greens, due to what looked like poor drainage, on the fairways at least. Overall though we had a good day out, helped by brilliant weather and 5 or 6 holes I really like. Hopefully the course will recover soon but I'd be surprised if it does so by June this year to the level we experienced last summer.

Great course in luxurious setting

Played a two ball sunday afternoon round as visitors during a period of heavy storm. Friendly pro-shop and members, lovely practice green and nets to warm up, driving range also present.

Course in fair condition considering weather. Greens ran medium and true, bunkers werre playable. Fairways ok and rough at a fair length.

Front nine of the course shut due to weather. Back a fair challenge with some interesting holes. Good pace of play.

Absolutely recommend playing here

First time round here. Nice course in good condition. Greens were very true without being that quick. Relatively intersting layout but not much change in elevation. Lots of well placed bunkers on both fairways and around the green. Now I've played it, would like another go. Good deal at £35 for twilight. Pushing it on value at full green fee. Nice welcome in the clubhouse and friendly bar staff post round.

Will return and would recommend

First time visit twilight round midweek. Course presented very well, carpet-like fairways and smooth greens. Quite soft conditions after a few days of rain made it very playable, but the thick sticky rough was a challenge I'm glad I don't encounter too often. Nice layout, fairly tight but not overly penal for the most part. Great views on couple of back nine holes. Welcoming clubhouse. Hard to fault it to be honest. Possibly a couple of holes a bit samey but I'm being picky really. We really enjoyed ourselves and we will definitely return.

This course is a very well conditioned course, superb fairways and greens, nice layout and routing, a real gem in Surrey, next to billionaires row of houses, nice if you can afford it, the houses that is, not the green fee, which is a bargain compared to some more expensive courses nowhere near as good as this.
