Very disappointing
Played this course two or three times several years ago, an interesting layout, quite challenging but enjoyable. Played again yesterday and found the course condition to be very disappointing, putting green and all greens had been hollow tined recently and were very poor. The rough just off the fairway and under the trees was left too long resulting in delays and several lost balls for our fourball, and grasscuttings everywhere.Lots of building work / refurbishment on the clubhouse facilities etc so I assume there’s not much left for the course!

Played again September 15 this year. Unfortunately, things had not improved. The course should have been declared unplayable, rather than taking our money. The organisation within the club hadn't seemed to have improved, either. I doubt I'll be looking to play again.

good course but not in good condition
the greens were first class but around the fringes very poor on most holes. Course ver ywet for this time off year. A lot of the T boxes were in bad condition and the bunker unraked and hardpath ways for buggies overgrown. This course is short of investment i think its all gone into leisure club and hotel rooms which are first class. Alas we came to play golf

We were not told when booking that mats had to be used.
Paid £29.95 for bacon roll, hot drink and 18 holes.
Played a muni for half the price last week which was much better.
Would not play here again, much better courses for cheaper price.

Wet winter round
Surprised the course was open due to persistent rain but was pleasantly surprised. Yes it was wet and boggy in places, but the greens were very good, tees ok and at ?20 it was a bargain. Nice course, some lovely holes.Reviewer Rating

Scenic Parkland Championship Course Bordering the pennines
Championship course that will suit all handicappers. Greens, Fairways in good condition albeit very wet in places on fairways. Bunkers very hard in bottom but could have been due to rainfall (hard to slide club in through sand). Course seemed to have limited number of distance markers. Struggled to find 150yd markers. Could do with stakes at side of fairways along with discs on fairways to mark 200yds/150yds and 90yds from pin. Many other courses in area have these markers so surprised that for a championship course did not have these.Reviewer Rating

Challenging course
Only my second time playing the course. The first being my first ever game of golf three years ago. A well sculptured challenging course which uses all the clubs in your bag, to pick your way around. The greens however had been heavily sanded, and were in poor condition, probably due to the heat wave we had. My biggest gripe though, wasn't the course, the club or the facilities, it was the amount of dog walkers (10-12) who strolled across fairways and even over greens as if it was their right. And you HAD to wait. One lady literally stood and had a few minutes conversation with her two dogs, before I had to walk down to her and let her know I was playing. Her response is unrepeatable here.Really good golf course and facilities, which was let down by the greens and the bizarre nature of random dog walkers all over it.

Good test of golf
This is a good test of golf; the fairways are very tight and some of the rough is totally unforgiving. On my visit the bunkers were quite stoney, some are short on sand and previous players hadn't bothered to rake either which was disappointing. The greens were in good condition but were inconsistent for speed. The fairways were very, very wet and despite many water hazards, there didn't seem to be much fairway drainage through the closely mown areas so the ball didn't run on much on the longer par fours making it tougher. Having said that its a beautiful course especially holes 11 and 12 and I'd like to play it again on a dry summers day to see if it can be played like more mature courses. If you'd like to try a similar course style but with drainage I'd recommend Sandiway.
The visitor bar seems to double as a crèche which is a bit odd. Perhaps adult golfers could be admitted to the members bar when the crèche is full?
