What the club says: The layout at Prestbury is outstanding, especially when considering the comparatively small scale of the site. The back nine is routed around the front nine in a horse shoe like fashion with the 6th green and holes 7 and 8 being the open ended part of the shoe. Interestingly, the back nine covers the highest part of the property at the 10th tee and lowest part at the 12th green with an ease few architects could match. While the walk back up to the clubhouse involves some gentle climbing it never requires a long green to tee walk. In 1934 Colt said of Prestbury “Owing to the natural formation of the ground, the golf is, in my opinion, very interesting and the variety provided is excellent as every hole presents some distinct feature of an impressive character”.

Unbelievable course and superb condition one of the best golf courses I’ve ever played most definitely the best in Cheshire by far. A must play at any time of year greens fast like summer

Prestbury was in immaculate condition for our society day and we were suprised with bacon roll and coffee. The course was a challenge with lots of contours a good test of golf.The staff were friendly and we received great service and definitely the best ourselves and service we have had for a number of years.

Wow what a course

Played in senior open, course in fantastic condition. Green quick. Different holes around course. Challenging Undulating especially stroke index 1. Definitely will play again

On the verge of excellent

Played today on a corporate day. Really good set up. Superb food. Course is laid out really well. Some long testing holes. This is not one for the high handicapper though. Two issues I would highlight are a lack of hole to hole signage and no rake stands in the bunkers. It was really wet today and kept getting hands covered in wet sand.

Quality course

Beautiful course in top quality condition despite the continuing need to play winter rules and preferred lies. Greens were fast but true.

Excellent overall condition

Greens in excellent condition, very true, firm.
Variable sand level in the bunkers I visited was the only negative, too much in one followed by too little in another!

Top class course

Play here every year on one of their open events, never disappointed. Friendly welcome all round, good food. Course always in top condition from tee to green. Greens true and fairly quick. Great layout, some good testing holes. Will be back for sure.

Prestbury Garcia is a classic Harry Colt golf course, in a beautiful setting to the south of Prestbury village. Originally reviewed as a "hidden gem", perfectly adapted to the undulating and tree lined ground. The course has been brought to a really excellent condition, despite recent wet weather.
