Everyone I know keeps talking about how long Millbrook is, but it really isn't, especially as it is a par 74 . Off the back (blue championship tees), and the Medal (white tees) it is a real challenge, but off the daily (yellow tees), at 6251 yards, it is reasonable - unless the wind is blowing, as it was for our round. I hadn't played this course for over 10 years, but apart from some changes to bunkering, it has not changed, and was in good order. Greens were true and fast, and none were very flat, in fact some had wicked borrows to negotiate. Tees and fairways were in good shape. The bunkers around the greens are almost all 'pot' bunkers that you go down steps to get into, and the only one I went in was too deep for my meagre talents. The other problem with pot bunkers is that you don't see them from distance, so if you don't play the course regularly, you don't know where they are! I did try to buy a stroke saver, but the pro shop did not have them in stock. Club house was welcoming (if a little small), and the staff looked after us both before and after our round. There are some serious climbs around the course, especially the 1st and 11th - make sure your trolley is charged (if electric), or that your bag is as light as possible if you carry or have a pull trolley.

This is an excellent course with plenty of interesting holes. There are 3 long par fives and 2 shorter par fives (where position off the tee is important). The tenth can vary between 116 and 187 yards! The tees were well looked after, the fairways and semi were in good condition except for the occasional bare patch. There was hardly any rough, unless you were very wayward. The greens were a bit slow but rolled true; it is also important to note that some of the greens are double greens and consequently very large. There are reduced green fee offers available, I'll definitely be returning for more games.

Some very nice holes with excellent fairways and fast undulating greens some of which are shared. Rather long par 5s and but some demanding slopes for a senior not least the 1st which is extremely steep and could profit from some steps. Steep sided pot bunkers are well maintained. Generally the management of the edges of greens is a welcome feature to avoid trolley damage. I think it is a stern test but having played it I would have made some more sensible choices off the tee. Score 108 Handicap 22

Really nice designed course but quite hilly on certain parts, people on the course were very friendly as were the staff and green keepers etc just gave a me a good feeling being there.
Will defo be going back to play again, some real naughty holes but challenging at least.

Played yesterday off the white tees. Never played anything quite like this. If you think Chiltern Forest has some extreme hills, then the Milbrook is in a different league. Would think it's pretty much impossible to score well on your first visit as lots of local knowledge required. Course set up fairly nevertheless and very varied. Reasonable value on 2 for 1 at weekend with Telegraph Open Fairways card. Good fun.

it is a shame the reviews of The Millbrook are so old. This is a fantastic course where the County Championships were held this year. Course is a test for any golfer whatever your handicap. The course is in excellent condition and because it is built on sand suffered few days when the course was closed in the very wet winter we have just suffered when other local courses were just quagmires.. Accuracy rather than length of drive more important. Burgeoning ladies section. Very friendly club and would recommend anyone to give it a go.

Hmmm, too tough!!!
The Millbrook is a really tough golf course to play, 1st time playing it and would have liked to played it a few times 1st.
Fairways are very firm with some unfair bounces with lots of roll, tee shots dead centre can be punished quite easily.
There are some really difficult holes to negotiate and the course was playing very long off the blue tees.
Greens were in superb condition and very quick.

First time played here. Immaculate Greens but a very difficult course, especially for players who do not hit the ball naturally high.
Two very steep holes on the course and at times it feels as though you are a mountain goat. Would definitely play again for the challenge.
