What The Club Says

Located at nearby Biddenham since 1896, the Club moved to a new purpose built complex at Stagsden in 2000

The 18 Hole Championship Course provides a challenge to golfers of all abilities. It was designed by Cameron Sinclair, who is famous for designing exciting golf courses which make the most of the natural terrain. Created in the 1990's when the club moved from its home of 100 years nearby, the course has matured amazingly well. The course benefits from indigenous woodland along its full length of one side and within its central area. In addition it boasts many beautiful oak trees dotted around the landscape.

The Par 3 'Academy' Course makes a challenging but fun short course for golfers of all levels. For the more experienced player it is ideal for practicing your short game, whilst for inexperienced golfers it can help build the self confidence needed to take on the main course. There are eight Par 3 holes and one Par 4 hole to finish.

Well worth a visit

The course is in good order, and has survived the really hot summer, although preferred lies was brought in from 24th August, and the ponds are a little low on water. The trees planted when the course was built are looking much more part of the landscape rather than looking like additions.

The course has become renowned for it's difficulty when the wind blows, but when we played on Monday in a County Fun Day, it was calm, and even off the black tees it's only 6560 yards, so not the longest, and scoring seemed quite easy.

The course itself looked very good, and the greens, tees and fairways were in perfect condition. The bunkers do seem to let the course down, as they have very heavy course orange sand in them, and so are more difficult to play out of than they should be. The two I visited were also of very differing depth/quality, with little to no sand for one particular lie.

We were fed as part of our package, and the food was good, I can't therefore comment on pricing. Staff were all very polite and friendly.

I'm happy to say I'd play again.

Well worth a visit

The course has improved considerably since I last played it over a decade ago. The planted trees are looking much more part of the course rather than looking like additions. The course has become renowned for it's difficulty when the wind blows, as it did today for the County Senior Championships, which were played from the new back tees (Black, which were the old white tees).

The course itslef looked very good, and the greens, tees and fairways were in perfect condition, as would be expected the day after the Club Championships weekend! The bunkers do seem to let the course down, as they have very heavy course orange sand in them, and so are more difficult to play out of than they should be. The two I visited were also of very differing depth/quality.
We were fed as part of our package, and the food was very good. Because it was such a hot day, the catering staff cleverly only brought food out as players came of the course, so it was kept fresh. Staff were all very polite and friendly.
I'm happy to say I'd play again, and hopefully I won't leave it for another decade before that happens.
