Good but could be great
A great layout with some brilliantly designed holes and far reaching views. The greens, fairways and tee boxes are very well maintained and the clubhouse and practice facilities are excellent! The course is unfortunately badly let down by the bunkers which are poor. The sand is brown/coarse and depth varies hugely between bunkers. A lot of bunkers are not ‘edged’ and some bunker walls are collapsing. I really hope the club will allocate funds for an extensive programme of works to renovate and improve bunkers. Only then will it be able to complete with the likes of John o gaunt and Dunstable downs.Reviewer Rating

The Golf Club is "The Bedfordshire", which used to be based at the oldest course in the County, so the course is quite new, but well built and designed. It will be a few years before the newly planted trees are less obvious. Greens are usually fast and true. I've only played the course from the back tees in official County Competitions, from which it's a good test.Reviewer Rating

Well worth a visit
The course has improved considerably since I last played it over a decade ago. The planted trees are looking much more part of the course rather than looking like additions. The course has become renowned for it's difficulty when the wind blows, as it did today for the County Senior Championships, which were played from the new back tees (Black, which were the old white tees). The course itslef looked very good, and the greens, tees and fairways were in perfect condition, as would be expected the day after the Club Championships weekend! The bunkers do seem to let the course down, as they have very heavy course orange sand in them, and so are more difficult to play out of than they should be. The two I visited were also of very differing depth/quality.
We were fed as part of our package, and the food was very good. Because it was such a hot day, the catering staff cleverly only brought food out as players came of the course, so it was kept fresh. Staff were all very polite and friendly.
I'm happy to say I'd play again, and hopefully I won't leave it for another decade before that happens.
