What the club says: The Brabazon at 7235 yards, par 72 is the spiritual home home of the Ryder Cup. Dave Thomas, the international golf architect and PGA Captain for 2001/2003, built the original course in the 1970s and its legend has grown from there.
The PGA National opened in 1997 and features extensive mounding and a number of water hazards which come into play on eight holes.
The Derby, at 6099 yards, par 70 complements the two Championship courses perfectly, providing challenging golf to all standards of players.

The brabazon course
13/11/25 after paying £90 each to play the brabazon course, we was shocked on how bad the greens were 70% had disease all over them .very slow no break on them very poor , the fairways were as you would expect, when the starter said it would be a 4hour 50 minute round all 4 players was shocked , after playing the first 3 holes we realised why ,there is only a meter wide 1st cut after the fairway then you are in over 5inch rough , we are 12 to 15 handicappers and realised if you went 5 feet off the fairways you was struggling to find your ball hence the ridiculous time to play the round , I appreciate you need to have rough on a golf course but not 5 inch only 5 feet from the fairways, the course Marshall was on our case from hole 2 asking us to keep up with the group infront, when we asked why as the other group was putting out on the green and we was waiting to play to the green, he said the course bunches up , yes we explained that the amount of dence thick rough slows the hole up but we said we still couldn't play to the green as the group infront was still putting out he insisted we played our shots we our 1st player his his shot on to the green only to have the group waving there fists at us , as of then we told the Marshall to go and do one and try cutting the rough instead of cause problems on the course that shouldn't happen, overall rating on the course is 3 out of 10 , there are alot better course for less money out there , there are living off 4 ryder cups what happened over 25 years ago and longer , may be put more effort into the course insisted you of the corporate surroundings, you can see why the brabazon has dropped out of the top 100 course in the UK, poor experience will never go back . You have been warned ??Reviewer Rating

Where are the marshalls?
Played the Brabazon for the first time 1 Oct. Tee time scheduled soon after midday, only to be told they're running late and to expect 4 hours 50 for the round. Really???!!!!If only that were true! We finally went off 25 minutes late and were still waiting on every tee and almost every approach. 3 hours for the front nine and not a sign of a marshall to speed things up. Back nine was positively rapid (in relative terms!) at only 2.5 hours!
Five and a half hours for a round of golf is just not acceptable, however nice the course is. It seems we were following a corporate event. I get it that this can mean a few inexperienced golfers in the mix and that's absolutely fine - would not want to deny anyone the opportunity of playing - but surely that just makes it more imperative that the course gets marshalls out there to chivvy things along. After all, they're getting enough income to be able to afford it!
Sorry, but it was a disgrace and

Ploughed some money into the Derby....
Having played the Derby a few times and seen it rather "forgotten" and bunkers slowly filled in as time has gone on was nice to see to my surprise new tee boxes constructed on some holes, new bunkers put in, green very tidy (crows had attacked them but what can you do). Was very nice to see some investment and plays a lot better then in the last few years...Reviewer Rating

Not the most difficult course I've played but still challenging with tree lined fairways and sloping greens. The most difficult thing was the wind that picked up on the back nine, Sheltered at ground level but as soon as the ball got above the trees, it was gone almost sideways (I don't slice normally)! The golf centre is superb with a great shop, restaurant and bar; and friendly staff. I did feel that the basic food was a bit pricey though. Getting to the 1st tee was by electric mini bus and the same on the return after the 18th, Golfers, trolleys etc all aboard.
Although the Brabazon is about ?90 a round, I played the Derby for ?23 on a weekday. The only downside is that parking was very congested as the resort also hosts exhibitions, conferences etc. You might have a long walk to the golf centre through it all. All round, a great experience. The Brabazon is next!

A fantastic course with an incredible pedigree in the Ryder Cup. The venue keeps improving and the significant new hotel looks very impressive. Greens were excellent as was the welcome from the passionate on course teamReviewer Rating

An Ryder Cup course
The Brabazon.... as harsh as it sounds, nicely defined fairways, greens roll very well, and bunkers can kill the card if not played correctly. Bunkers are deep with big lips, avoid if you can. The rough around the green fringes is deep, lush grass, where you can easily lose a ball. Lovely course to play and challenge yourself against this beauty of a course.Reviewer Rating

( £50) The greens were very fast and took a while to play them successfully.
Problem with parking was the only draw back to the day.

Once in a lifetime opportunity golf course
Played this course for the first time in my life after getting an amazing deal to play it cost wise. Turned out the weather was horrendous with strong winds (50mph+) and heavy rain which was a bit of a downer to be honest. Just glad to have had the chance to play one of the most iconic golf courses in the world but not for me really as I'm an 18 handicapper and the conditions took it out of me great place though.Reviewer Rating

The Derby course is not worth it
The Derby might seem good value, and although it's kept in nice condition, it's boring (lots of straight par 4?s averaging 380 to 400 with no variety). There?s no real opportunity to have a practice putt before the round as the putting green is by the 1st tee, which they have to drive you to, and only just before your tee off time! Forget paying ?10 just to use the practice green by the driving range!Reviewer Rating

Incredible course.
Absolutely loved playing this course. Thanks to Jax and Angus. The whole course is expertly taken care of, the greens were immaculate as were the bunkers. Playing the 10th hole was also absolutely incredible, I almost drove the green, that would have been the highlight of the day but sadly I just missed it. We were buddied up with 2 fantastic guys from Kent, had a lot of fun and got around the whole course without a buggy in under 4 hours. It is probably my favourite course of all time and I cannot wait to play it againReviewer Rating

Nice course. In great condition at the mo.
Played this today after a gap of several years and I was surprised how good condition it is. Not a long course but challenging to pinpoint the greens as miss them and it certainly adds shots to your game as I found out. Lots of different varying style of holes. Overall as a resort its currently in excellent condition and well worth a visit. very expensive prices but I guess as a resort they need to make money. Golf staff not so friendly, needed an electric trolley and when I went to get it from the trolley area the guy walked right past me, had me waiting around 10 mins until I went back into the shop and expressed my dismay. The guy finally turns up like nothing had happened. I was not happy but simply said thanks and moved on.Reviewer Rating
