What the club says: Opened in 1933 Pype Hayes is a popular mature course with plenty of subtly curved fairways lined with gorse and broad leafed trees, firm contoured greens and lots of deeply sanded bunkers. The key to most of the par 4's is to play an iron for accuracy off the tee as the greens are still reachable with a middle to short iron. Don't be tempted to attack the pin on holes 3,4 and 11 as missing the green often means a dropped shot due to the out of bounds. Play safe and be content with hitting the green, once on the greens you'll find them a joy to putt on. It is a course which is very forgiving and, apart from a few ditches, has no water hazards. It is not very hilly, but there are sufficient gradients to make it interesting.

a very poorly kept course, lots of long rough, cut grass on the fairway left across the approach to the green, 90% of the bunkers are GUR and the playable few have no sand in them. food and drink expensive, staff very friendly

Mr Jak
The course is so neglected it is a crime. I had played here before but didn't recognise it. Admittedly the wet weather has played a big part, but even the basics were not upheld. Very slow greens in poor condition. The fairway went straight to a jungle rough and the course layout was hard to discern.
It was much better as a municipal with care and love applied to the maintenance. It needs a lot of work. We traveled a good distance, but won't be rushing back. Members deserve better. Buggy broke.

Good in summer terrible in winter
The course is an absolute mudbath in the winter months flooded everywhere, if they are opening the course in these conditions they should lower the price as £26 is far to expensive for these conditions

Very nice course for the money
Very nice open fairway course, well worth the money, nice big open fairways, greens are decent, only the bunkers need some work as sand is compacted so hard to get club head through

Long time since played here
Decent fairways and greens quite fast considering rain. Some boggy areas between 11th and 12th.
Decent pace of play
No practice greens available. Big downside.

Course was in good condition considering the weather there were a few wet areas but it was to be expected. Disappointing that there isn't a practice putting green.

Course is really let down by the green keepers some green are scabby and some fairways need mowing the rough was way to long for a first cut and the bunkers are just dreadful I wouldn't call them bunkers more like pot holes with nothing but stones very little sand
