The Belfry is special

Played the Brabazon and it was special. A tough course with water in sporadic places, lots of twists and turns. The halfway hut is right by the famous Seve 10th and this is honoured with a plaque. Likewise is a Nick Faldo hole in one with a 6 iron, I think on the 15th. Great touches. Lots of bunkers and the layout is fantastic.

Great off course facilities, but courses need more TLC

I played the Derby Course and wondered if they ever actually tend to it, looked unkept, no ball washers, missing OOB stakes, tee boxes not repaired. Just seemed a course to spread the many golfers around the place. The next day I played the Brabazon which was much better (and should be) with much better tee boxes, manicured fairways and greens. Nearly landed the 10th with a 3W but hit sleepers to left of green and into the drink sigh. My verdict, play the Brabazon its a proper course, leave the Derby for the golfers wanting a cheaper deal. Play the PGA National and enjoy that. Of course facilities are absolutely amazing, but the prices are amazing too, but you're at the Belfry so expect to pay for that privilege. My other scores on here are based on the Brabazon not the Derby.

Derby Course - great value

Played course on a ?20 deal and for that it is great value. Arrive in good time as parking close can be an issue.
I hear that in prolonged wet periods it can be heavy going and you can see the areas where drainage can be an issue but after a dry week it was fine.
A minibus takes you to the first tee, thus avoiding bunching and onlookers, bringing you back afterwards.
Fairways were fine, though greenkeepers have a task in repairing divots, rough was light. Greens were quick and true. If you do have the option, keep your approaches below the flag ;-).
Overall the course was a good "hotel" course but no more.
The main bonus is telling friends you played at "The Belfry". Having said that, the whole experience does draw you in to want to play their Championship courses.

The Belfry

Played the Brabazon. Awesome. Played at 7:30am. Only £60. First on. Took 3 hours 45 mins
Loved it. Only down side was the 10th. The staff were tending the bunker. I wanted to go for the green. Got fed up with waiting so decided to lay up. Got my Par anyway.

PGA National Course

The club and facilities are excellent, the course was in fabulous condition considering the hard summer, greens true but not easy! That's the way it should be!
The only down side on the day was that all of the golf buggies had been taken by a company day on the Brabazon, not a problem for me but if you needed a buggy? It would certainly pay to reserve one when making a course boking!

Glad I finally got to play it...

Golfshake Team ReviewBeen on my bucket list for a while now but was never going to pay the full rate they wanted...
Fortunately they were doing a 40th anniversary special rate at certain
times of ?40 each so it had to be done...
Really enjoyed it even though the 4ball in front kept us waiting on
every shot for the first 9 holes...Course was in good condition but you could see it gets a lot of traffic
through. Some great additions to the course were the little Ryder Cup plaques etc dotted round to
remind you of what has gone before...
Would def recommend but not at the full price in my eyes.....?40 was great value for us though...

Great experience overall at the belfry. The pga is the sister of brabazon. It does play different. Long grass rough...balls lost. Water hazards down sides of some fairways. Quite tough.

Played the Brabazon for the first time. Really enjoyable, the course was in very good condition. After a long period of hot dry weather the greens were very, very fast. The greens were of excellent quality and consistent. A round requires good course management, the sprinklers either side of the fairway show distances to the front of the green which is very useful. The fairways wind beautifully with very well placed and punishing bunkers. My advice would be firstly keep drives straight - sacrificing distance for accuracy would be useful, secondly, ensure your approaches are made from the best angles and thirdly ensure you leave uphill putts more so than on other courses. The staff were superb : all very polite, courteous and helpful and happy to give advice and share experiences. The only disappointment was a large hold up at the tenth, this is the \"Seve\" hole where he somehow placed his tee shot close to the hole from the \"blue tees\". The yellow tee position makes this far, far more possible but the tee shots are recorded and if you put it in the water you get a \"free drop\" in front of the water. This all slows the pace of the round (very frustrating when we were playing well - we had to wait for 25 minutes!) This, we felt, was very unnecessary and didn\'t accurately reflect your score for the hole! This apart it was a very enjoyable experience and one that we are likely to repeat.

Great service as per normal. (Women in the pro shop; Graham who emailed over Dvc membership details and of course the shuttle driver)

Driving range was good and fairly priced.

Wet under foot which is to be expected with current weather; fairways where good and greens had no surface water what so ever.

No slow play and plenty of scope to still attack the course.

Can't wait to return next saturday.

Expensive for what it is !

Played the Brabazon, green fee about £180.00 per person. Its in fairly good condition but not worth all that money, bunkers don 't have enough rakes and were very often not raked. The round was slow I don't think they are bothered if you can play or not. Played with a scratch golfer and a 6 handicapper and they were a bit frustrated with the pace of play. Food was expensive £17.00 for a salad £13.00 for a club sandwich not great either.

Amazing course

The Brabazon is worth every penny - I would strongly recommend it as a course to play at least once. I had a teaching lesson whilst on the course and the knowledge of the professional was amazing. I have learnt so many things and can't wait to put them in to practice on my home course.
