Better than expected
The "second" course at The Belfry but by no means a poor relation. Conditioning was superb throughout and although a few balls were lost you needed to be fairly wide to reach the longest grass. A really good test, esoecially with the wind and rain on such an open layout. Different to Brabazon but no bad thing if you enjoy a challenge.(Round played: Sep 2019 - Score: 84 Handicap: 9.9)

Brabazon yes, PGA no
A weekend away with the boys to play the UK's premier golf venue. I had played it before many times, but only ever in winter conditions so playing it in the summer was a treat. The Brabazon at an eye watering ?160 a round was in amazing condition and was an absolute pleasure to play. One day I will get on the green in one on the 10th ! On the second day we played the PGA billed at ?85 ... this course is just good which is a pity as I have heard since that the Derby course is a better experience that the PGA which has really unforgiving rough and is a tad boring. The hotel and food experience at the Belfry is always good, but you pay a lot for it. I think I will go back to only playing here when there is a really good deal on, otherwise from a cost point of view it doesn't compete with other venues like Rockliffe Hall and Slaley Hall.Reviewer Rating

Fantastic condition but not as good as I hoped
The brabazon is known for its 10th and 18th and they lived up to their reputation but the rest of the layout was very much like a parkland course with big bunkers and some water . May be it was my game, as I left that behind, but I am not sure i would be rushing back to play it. Would prefer the PGA myself(Round played: Jun 2019 - Score: 104 Handicap: 15.9)

Disappointing
We booked this the night before over a few beers and prior to making our minds up I saw The Derby described as "a good muni course at best" which we ignored but transpired to be spot on. Great condition but a hugely uninspiring course. Facilities obviously fantastic, staff also fantastic.(Round played: Jun 2019 - Score: 94 Handicap: 18.1)

All that?s said and more
Is it worth. Yes. We played the PGA on Sunday after a dreadful Saturday weather wise. Heavy rain, and gale force winds. The course was in very good condition, they apologised because the pin positions couldn't be mapped,as they?d been move to high points. That says it all. Monday we played the Brabazon, we should have been on the Derby but upgraded, it was well worth it.The course again was in great condition. The whole set up is very good.
Playing the Brabazon , following on from the greats is staggering it's a test off the yellows, how they play it off the championship tees is beyond me.
The belfry does not disappoint. If your looking for a good weekend away, go for it. All the staff were really friendly and happy to see you. Food was good and surprisingly not that expensive. Drinks were acceptably priced, but not cheap, but it didn't stop us having a few watching the football after our game.
We will be going back definitely.

Enjoyed the course
Enjoyed the course - flat no hills - greens could be better, was early in the season so grass still not in best condition(Round played: Mar 2019 - Score: 121 Handicap: )

Excellent condition. well worth a try
The course is in excellent condition for so early in the season. A long course where most holes are a drive and then another wood, (well it is for me.) Lots of bunkers so hit it sraight or there is always trouble either side of the greens on most holes. Overall well worth a play if you get the opportunity.(Round played: Apr 2019 - Score: 93 Handicap: 11.8)

The Derby course

Wow Wow Wow
Yes the Brabazon is high end cost wise but as they say you get what you Kay for.....course was mint ???????? Can't find ken negative thing about it...greeens, bunkers, fairways, teeing grounds, rough and even practice areas were all of the highest standard!! Some really iconic holes and photo opportunities make this a real ?bucket list? course. Go on and treat yourself...you won't be left disappointed!!Reviewer Rating

Top class course and good value
We got a great deal here through various schemes and had a great day. Have played before so no surprises, but always worth a visit here. Tough in places but the challenge is what we came for. Thoroughly enjoyed!(Round played: Sep 2018 - Score: 99 Handicap: 26.8)
