One of those courses I only get to play once a year, but still one of my favourites. Usually played in baking sunshine in June/July, this year we had rain. Despite this the greens were very quick, and the lack of run on the fairways made the course even more difficult than usual (it's par 69 and SSS 71). Every year sees more improvements to the course. The food has always been excellent, but I wonder if that is because the competitions organiser is a Past Captain of the Club. Either way we are always looked after. Fairly limited parking if you're coming as a large group - you could end up parking in the overflow carpark in the middle of the course.

Interesting layout, forgiving to most missed fairways, many sloping fairways and good course managemnt required with tiered greens. Course in great shape at the end of summer. Greens are true and fairly fast, friendly staff. Will be back again

Despite the bad weather of the last few weeks, the course was in excellent condition. Always been a fan of this course, some real challenging holes where you have to hit long and straight.

Really nice testing course. Greens were in immaculate condition. Staff were friendly on the whole. The 'pro' was a 17 year old kid, who was nice enought but did really know how to deal with people properly. Perhaps he was shy.

Considering the wet weather the course was in very good condition. One of the best clubs in the area for the price.

I play this course only once each year (late June or early July), and it is invariably in very good condition. 2013 is no exception, but one drawback is they have used a massive amount of fertiliser around the course, which consequently smells terrible!
Despite this, which I am sure will eventually wash into the ground and improve the bare patches which have been treated; the course was still excellent, and even the biunkers have been given a top up, so that bunker shots are less of the lottery they were in previous years. Lets face it though we would all rather stay out of them!
Greens were running true and were pretty quick, although there are always some people who moan they are TOO quick or TOO slow - these are the people who would find something to complain about if they were playing on a supermodel's bedspread!
All in all; a course which I look forward to playing every year, and we already have a date booked for July 2014.

Midweek only for non members, but if you can get down during the week you wont be disapointed. A very nice course with some tricky holes and true well kept greens. The course also uses the natural lay of the land very well and some of the holes on the hill are very tricky indeed. Also at £20 on a monday you cant go wrong. Worth a look.

This is a course I always enjoy playing. The greens are always fast and in great condition. Only one par 5 on the course, because the others on the original design were considered too short some years ago. These are now long par 4's - the 10th is SI 1 - 460 yards invariably into wind, and the 17th is not much shorter and all uphill.
Please pause by the bench at the first tee - it's dedicated to a good friend of mine (David Ashton) who sadly died in 2005, who was Captain at Sudbury in 1993.

sittuated on the side of a hill, the gradient is quite a factor on most holes, either up or down, the ball is never level with your feet on this course!
lovely looking place with a good mix of holes, only one par 5 i play here a lot and i like it. only 20 quid on mondays i can't find better value for money in my part of london.
