Course changes
I've played Stevenage course for decades and very recently the course has changed the hole order for some unknown reason.....I am not a fan! The nice flow that the course had is no longer with crossover points between several holes and the new 16th hole can only be described as a mish mash of other left over bits of now unused parts of the other holes. The course now appears to play as a front 8 and back 10 so if you do want to play just 9 holes you will have to walk back down the length of the 8th or 9th hole to get to the clubhouse which is just not logical or safe. Some of the greens were bare of grass and you couldn't putt on them with any reasonable expectation of making putts. I really would like to know why they have made the changes as there doesnt appear to be a logical reason for such dramatic changes and it certainly does not improve the flow or the quality of the course whatsoeverReviewer Rating

Greens are disgraceful & new course layout is farcical.
As per title greens are disgraceful & new course layout is an absolute shambles someone is going to get hurt before long with the criss cross of several holes. I certainly won’t be returning anytime soon.Reviewer Rating

Enjoyable round
My friend and have played at Stevenage many times over the years and played here in December 2021. The course has some interesting holes and is a good test of golf. The clubhouse is good and we ate there after our round. My only criticism would be the choice of fillings in the sandwiches: no cheese or prawn, for example) but we both found something we enjoyed. We will go again.Reviewer Rating

Fantastic pay and play
As long as you accept that the condition of the course is never going to be as good as Wentworth then you can get on with appreciating what is a really good course. Challenging but fair with some decent long holes and excellent par 3s. All of the par 3s are great but the 17th coming when it does at the end of the round is a real card wrecker! Don't let that put you off though because by then you will have had an excellent time.Played in November after the heatwave summer laid waste to so many fairways and yet there is plenty of grass on them, unlike places like John O'Gaunt and Brookmans Park which cost three times as much and are a shambles. Save your money and play Stevenage instead.
If I ever win the euromillions multi rollover I will buy this course!

Tough at times
When you arrive the need to know bitsThere is a driving range all bays have trackman there is a small putting green there is also a chipping area the other side of the first tee
The Pro shop is well stocked with everything you might need and the staff are very helpful
The course itself is kept in good condition on the whole but don't let the condition of the tee boxes put you off they are played off all year round and get little time to recover
The greens are the best they have been for years running quick and true
There are some good challenging holes for all levels of golfers mature trees placed in strategic places will have you thinking your way round small streams wind there way around the course adding natural hazards
The par 3s are all a good test and are very different in distance and difficulty
Now you have got round the 18 holes Pop into the clubhouse for a bite and a beer the menus is good and reasonably priced I enjoyed the 18 hole breakfast but they do a 9 hole one for you weight watchers all in all a good day I will definitely go again priced at ?35 a little cheaper for twighlight golf
