A great test of your ability - excellent Greens and a warm welcome
The Course is in excellent condition and the Greens have had much work - all are well watered and receptive to a well hit wedge. The course is long and several holes in particular (the 5th, 8th and 10th) all require good drives and second shots to get you to the green in regulation. The Greens roll well and the views over the surrounding countryside are stunning. Fairways currently a bit hard but after 4-5 very dry weeks that's understandable. Pace of play is good and its not in the least crowded. A real gem of a course in lovely countryside. Green fees are very reasonable for somewhere of this quality. Friendly and welcoming clubhouse and staff.Reviewer Rating

The Course played extremely well even with rain and wind. The Dinner was exceptional all freshly cooked, with food to spare and the Staff were most pleasant and helpful.
At £22.95 a head Golf and Dinner would recommend to any Society or individuals. This was the second year for our Society, enjoyed by everyone.

Good layout, no boring up and down holes or two holes the same. Very challenging. Greens were slightly slow but ran true and the bunkers need work but the new management are going in the right direction.
Friendly staff and members. Excellent value at just £10 for a twilight round, well worth that. (Score: 88, Handicap: 12.3)

lack of flexibility
A well kept course entering the winter months in a very attractive and scenic setting. Just the acceptable number of obstacles (trees, ditches and bunkers) to make the game fun and challenging. W are a group of 12 but only 5 of us came to play yesterday because we were told by the Pro1) the café was closed - only proshop food available (sausage rolls, sandwiches, confectionery); our experience of this had not been brilliant.
2) we could not break the game half way through for lunch because we would unlikely be able to get back on. So we would have to play all 18 holes at once
3) we must not use their tables to eat our own food!
In fact, the food served in the cafe was ok, there would have been no trouble getting back on the course after lunch, crikey no one else was using the tables!
Only one temporary green otherwise fab! It's a pity as I would have liked more of our group to take advantage of the winter rate.

Not the best course in the area in summer, that goes to Ross down the road but from October-April this is hands down the best in the area due to the undulating sandy turf that drains well, a few people have said this course is too long but it only is when it's soft, it's 6700 yards off the whites but you get plenty of run so it's really not an issue. I've always found it an interesting test, it's wide open on most holes but depending on flag placement you still need to be precise, yesterday on hole 4 the flag was on the right side of the green so you want to be on the left side, on the left is 2 fairway bunkers and heavy rough, this is typical of the test you face. The only way to play it is to plod around and have a go if you stuff one close
