What the club says: Our par 70, 18 hole Golf Course is designed to USPGA specifications by Henry Cotton and Donald Steel. It is both challenging and enjoyable, featuring, as it does, a mix of hazards through parkland and woodland copses.
Because it stands on chalk sub-strata with a constant drainage system, we are able to offer year-round golfing on permanent tees and greens. The Coach House bar is perfectly placed for the 19th hole and offers all-day breakfasts as part of the menu.

Good for a mini-break
A nice, not too challenging course and a good hotel on site.A mix of holes with several short par 3's and since long par 5's.
Tee boxes were a not ragged and not flat but the greens were in good condition.

Interesting Course
Front nine played 'easier' than the back nine - although I managed score better on back nine (??)Course in good condition throughout.

Very short and the greens were a struggle from 2ft
Good course for beginners given the length. But the greens were in need of a lot of tlc. Hollow toning and Scarification were definitely needed after the wet winter we had, but by the time I played (12/04/24) nothing had bed in. Ridges everywhere and uneven cut grass across the greens on most holes.Reviewer Rating

Lovely course
Lovely course, perfect for new starters to the game. Some good challenges for lower handicaps. Lots of trees to contend with on the fairways and solid true greens to test those putts as well.Reviewer Rating

Interesting
Starts of with a few easy, and short, holes, then gets tough. Front nine is nowhere near as difficult as the back 9.Really good hotel though, food is excellent if a little short on portion size.

Interesting
Good course, lots of short par 4,s to gain some shots on, but still pretty fun to play after the front 5. Greens had just been spiked and sanded so difficult to comment on those but I think it would/could pose a stern test of your putting when playing properly. Good welcome, excellent nd friendly staff.Reviewer Rating

Relaxed atmosphere
The course starts with a Par 3 which is always great. The second half of the course goes left to right and is harder. The course was in good condition for early February. Would play again.(Round played: Feb 2022 - Score: 123 Handicap: 50.4)

Excellent course
Unusual course in that it starts with a series of short holes (I would say easy, but they're not always). It's a gentle start, but be patient because from the fifth onwards it gets much tougher. It's a very pretty course and it's in fantastic condition. The greens are undulating and quick, but true. Quiet hilly in parts but very walkable.
The welcome we got was fantastic. The staff in the clubhouse / golf reception were superb.
Same can be said for the staff in the hotel, if you're lucky enough to be staying and the food was top quality.

Short course in great condition
Short course particularly the front nine but in great condition. A couple of narrow fairways and greens than ran true but had some interesting cambers. Fast round until last three holes where we were stuck behind a putting out 4 ball in some kind of members competition that definitely added 25 minutes to the round. The course layout is tight in places and heard and felt a non-called drive pass my head. Probably play again as a confidence booster. Sat in bar for 10 minutes without being served, even though two bar staff more interested in sorting out optics at 12.30 than serving customers, so left.(Round played: Jun 2021 - Score: 87 Handicap: 15.3)

Shendish is slanted
Lovely, well kept, cheap course. Lovely bar area. Short course but don't let that fool you; its extremely difficult. Alot of the back 9 plays on a slant and has great character. You need precision (and luck) to land the ball on the fairways. Would recommend. 8/10Reviewer Rating
