OK

Enjoyed the round. Some nice par 3s but too many bunkers for my liking. Worth buying a course planner so you know where you are hitting on blind tee shots.

Heathland

Real proper heathland course with a good mixture of long and short holes. Really penal bunkers around (all around) many greens which cost me at least 5 shots in the round but really enjoyed it.

BUNGS SINGLES MATCHPLAY

Splendid day on a tight golf course. Many hole particularly the short par 3's require accuracy and straight hitting. Lovely clubhouse and the staff were very helpful made the day one to be remembered.

Impressive

We went as a group of 9 Saturday 28th. Expecting it to be wet, but was surprised to find it soft but not soggy. Food in the clubhouse was excellent value for money (especially the sausage & mash)
Whilst we were waiting on the first tee the club captain came over and introduced himself to was and thanked us for choosing his course (a very nice touch) as we didn?t T off until 2:15 we weren?t really troubled by slow play either in front of us or behind us so kept our pace going throughout the whole 18 holes. The course itself was in very good condition it looked like The greenkeepers had removed a lot of the rough and shrubbery which seemed to open up the course a great deal. There are some very good holes on the course, in total it was a very good choice from our organiser.

Sand Moor GC

Great alternative to Moortown and not as brutal, played in almost perfect conditions, light breeze, warm day, greens always in fab condition & run true, rained on the last hole but didnt dampen a great knock & day - thoroughly recommend this course, staff very friendly & accomodating.

Fantastic course, loved the scenary. The par 3s are very difficult here and the rough is punishing if it is found. I like starting with a par 5 it breaks you in gently. Some of the bunkers required a bit more sand but other than that this is a perfect place to play golf.

Course in very good condition. Greens running well. Has been made a lot easier to play with removal of a lot of the gorse bushes.

Course itself in great condition, very disappointed to be charged full visitor price when all greens had been hollow tined and sanded to the point that Steven Spielberg was rumoured to have been viewing the greens to use in a follow up scene on the beach in Saving Private Ryan!!

New to golf, played a few courses now here and abroad, I have to say this has been without a shadow of a doubt my favourite, I had actually had my best ever round here in terms of score as it suited my game. Love the par 3's here, pin positions were very good getting nicely rewarded for the risk. Stunning really love this place.
Only bad point I can find is they made me very hungry as the joint of meat had just gone out for the carvery - it looked like an M & S advert! Lots of people were arriving all dressed for evening meal when we left, so it is obviously a popular place to go and eat also. Nice to see - will most certainly be back.

Views will probably be very nice in the spring / early summer, before the leaves are fully out, the eccup reservoir run alongside this course but you would hardly know since the trees block the view, couple of places you can see it but before the leaves get thick you'd see down the whole of it i would think

We had the whole course more or less to ourselves the whole day. Really well kept and great views. A good challenge although not overly long. The par 3s are all beautiful.
A little expensive and I would slightly hesitate to play again especially with the class of the neighbouring courses in or around same price.
Certainly worth a visit and recommended.

It may the lowest ranked of the Alwoodley courses but Sand Moor is a still a cracking course. Lovely conditioning throughout, fast true undulating greens and good variety of holes. Depending on your mood the above average number of blind shots can become repetitive but overall this is a great test of golf but still allows a few errant shots due to the adjoining fairways. Welcome was friendly although there were few snooty comments about our next venue Scarcroft but I think that's just a bit of local rivalry coming out.
