What the club says: The Alwoodley Golf Club, founded in 1907, is officially recognised as one of Britain's finest inland heathland courses. Alwoodley's runs almost straight out and back, the inward nine being tougher as most of the holes are played into the fresh winds off the Yorkshire Moors. 2020 sees the Club hosting The R&A Boys Championship and The R&A Open Regional Qualifier.

A beauty of a course

8 of us visited on our annual golf trip . We’d played Moortown the day before which was great but in my opinion Alwoodley is next level.
As soon as you drive in, it feels like a touch of class.
Great practice facilities, stunning clubhouse and very helpful staff.
The 1st tee looked like a fair few greens I’ve played on.
We played off the yellows which is a fair but tough test for most amateurs.
Greens were huge and the layout reminded me a little of Woodhall Spa. .
Would highly recommend- be ready for the bar prices though!

The level of difficulty was just right for me and the greens were interesting to play. The views were also very nice. The course also had a great sense of history and was in good condition. It was definitely one of the best heathland courses I've ever played in Yorkshire.

Just wow! Amazing clubhouse, amazing heathland course. Great variety of holes and course design. Easily comparable to the best of surrey/berkshire.

Must play!

Another great Alistair Mackenzie course, and again it's brutally long, especially in the wind, which was howling today. My advice would be don't play the course with a hangover, like I did, you'll need every part of your game to work!

Just a beautiful, pretty course.

We were made to feel very welcoming by the staff on arrival. The food was exceptional and fantastic value. A great practice area and pro shop. It has to be the prettiest clubhouse I have ever seen.
Once on the course it is a challenging place if you're not straight. The gorse and heather rough was punishing if you found it. You have to tee across a few holes and finding the next tee could be tricky if you're not following another group. You can make out the Augusta connection on the bunker shaping especially on the par 3, 11th. Just stunning!

A Challenging Course. A must play

McKenzie's first course is an excellent track. A tough but fair test of golf. The back 9 into the wind is a challenge
