Great course, shame about the weather

An amazing course no doubt but we had to endure persistent and heavy rain for last 12 holes which made for a very tough round. I'm sure the course would standout even more in clearer, brighter weather. Conditioning was very good, green complexes are tough but good fun. It has to be on any links golf fans bucket list...even if you dont get perfect conditions!

A special place

Porthcawl is one of the most beautiful courses in the world. It offers traditional links golf at its very best. This time of year it is as difficult as it is beautiful. The rough is unforgiving and due to recent events (I assume) the bunkers have very little sand, which makes an already difficult course even more demanding. Fairways and greens were perfect, as always, and the views over the links are as good as it gets. If you love golf you must play this wonderful course.

Amazing venue, history everywhere and a true chance to play on the same turf as some of your heroes. Course in great condition despite heavy rain for days before. Throughly recommend a trip, keep your fingers crossed the wind doesn't get up!

Absolutely brilliant golf course where you get a warm welcome. The greens and surrounding aprons are fast and challenging but very true. Some of the fairways are still recovering from last summer but it didn’t affect play too much. Course was a reasonable challenge off yellows with no wind :-)

Tough but beautiful

Really tough, every error gets magnified, but precise golf can get results (at least off the yellow tees)

Wow

This is an exceptional course. Each hole offers something unique from the last. It's scoreable from the fairway but long rough puts a premium on driving accuracy. We played it following a long dry spell. The fairways were yellow but playable and the greens were well maintained. One of my favourite golf courses with a nice warm welcome and amazing views

Stunning, even in the mist

Is a review necessary? It's an iconic course with some amazing holes. Go play it and stay out of the bunkers.

Great course, avoid bunkers!

Played in a league match here. Windy day but dry. Course was running beautifully, greens were fast despite rain the previous day. Pins were in challenging positions (residue from previous day's Men's Medal!)

Fantastic test of golf, lightning fast greens that will catch any off target shot and send it offside. Bunkers are not in great shape, not much top sand and in most cases require a sideways or reverse shot to escape
