What the club says: Lakeside is the perfect course for those beginners who are hitting their very first shots away from the driving range. There are plenty of par threes instead of long, drawn out par fives that do nothing than dampen the confidence.

What Golfshake says:

Most Helpful Review

Lakeside has currently a real good offer on at £5 a round and the newly managed "Priorry Restraunt" at the venue is well priced for food and beer. The greens are currently immaculate and I have seen a huge improvement during this summer as money has been put back into keeping the course tip top. This is of course not up to your Pyle & kenfig standard of course. ts just a good beginers/intermediate course. The course is very welcoming. Cricism would be only that it needs better ndication of tee to green routes. If you need lessons I would highly recommend Matthew Wotton the professional there whos fees are very low at another club you could possibly add a tenner to the fees. Also Matthew will play a game with you as part of the lesson. Found a real problem with my swing that no professional had spotted since 1978 and it was almost glaring to see. - Aug 29 2013

Had not been to Lakeside in some time. Found the course in very good condition, greens a little bumpy in places but generally good. At £10 for 18 holes it represents good value for money.

Recently lost part of the course so reduced from 18 holes to 9 so you can just double up to do the full 18 as per their scorecard.
Lengthened the 2nd (and 11th) hole which allows you to get the driver out but generally I love the course because it's great for improving the short game as I'm not too accurate with my tee shots, I'm always left with an approach to the green rather than being on the green.
Course is in great condition although the greens don't offer too much challenge as there is not too much gradient so it's all about distance control with the putter.
Great course for my level of ability, which is a high handicap...a great step up from pitch and putt courses.

Best of welcome extended to everyone!

This course has significantly improved over the last six months and has plenty to offer golfers at all abilities. Don't be put off by the 9 holes, this club has proven to be one of the best small courses in South Wales. The club has had a successful teams over the years winning local league's demonstrating it's ability to produce good golfers. Great atmosphere in the 19th whereby the refreshments are first class!

The club has a fantastic display of golfing memrobilliae from Gary Player to the modern Welsh legends.

There are full incentives to becoming a member as you have the added incentive to pkay club competitions whereby you will be well looked after and welcomed into a group to play with.
Once a member you will have the privilege to play off the competition white tees whereby the course becomes longer and far more interesting.

Give it a try you will be pleasently suprised!

A flat course, and quite short, a great course to practise your iron shots and short game, but you can leave your driver at home!

course is ok, lots of long par 3's, greens are pretty rough, some slow some fast, missing fairways but a foot or so means a ten minute search for your ball, fairways are ok, not a lot of roll on them though, couple of very short par 3's that are challenging, one with the green behind the trees so requires a bit of ingenuity, for £13 you cant really complain, not my favorite course but never say no.
