Appalling

Course can only be described as 'dead' all fairways brown, whole course rock hard. So many blind shots with no real idea where ball is going and if its good or not. Definately not worth the £40 green fee

Where do you start, first and most important. this place is so over priced at 35 quid. i've played golf all over the country, at different prices. i wouldn't pay any more than ten pound to play here. but i wouldn't ever play here again, even if it was free. the course is in a very very bad state of repair, the tee boxes were terrible, just uneven piles of soil and grass seed. the greens where even worse, it was like trying to put on lego, patches of soil, with the odd bit of grass on it and what grass there was, was covered in pitch marks. the course does not have enough makers on the blind drives, u have no idea where to aim and there is no avalible course planner. and the icing on the cake, the buggy that cost 20 quid a round, lasted the large amount of 11 holes, leaving us havin to push it for 3 holes. when we address this matter with the staff in the clubhouse, we were told the manager was un-avalible. cuz he was out, having a knock round the course. overall the worse golf course we have ever visited. stay away, plenty of choice near this place, do yourself a favour and go somewhere else.

Greens had suffered from poor maintenance, and contradictory comments came from staff regarding situation. Whilst the greens had been topdressed and tined, the lack of cutting for 5 days made putting a farce. Not impressed that the |Spike Bar closed promptly at 6.00 pm. Understand that new owners have been in place since late 2010, and positive action should have improved the greens so that it will in due course be a good and proper test of golf.

I have played here before when it was called 'Roserrow' but I'm not sure the course or club house has improved as much as appears to be reported. For a start, the lengthy driveway leading to the clubhouse could definitely do with the huge amount of pot-holes filling, and the course itself was still pretty 'agricultural'. The rough is certainly rough, and although the course itself is an interesting one and the greens were in particularly good condition, it could do with a few more trees being planted as it's pretty exposed in places. The most disappointing aspect though was the lack of signage from greens to the next tees and there was no sign on a tee which asked you to wait for the bell - it was just lucky we heard it. It took us about 4 hours to go round and were looking forward to some food when we got back. However, the kitchen was shut in the afternoon which is poor. I don't know of any other courses where you can't eat a meal when you come off the course, whatever time it is. We were going to have a beer but decided to go instead. Overall, for ?25 for the round it was just OK, although it was a bit galling to see a sign for a winter special at ?18 including a meal - but although this was on a Wednesday it didn't apply during the festive period.

Disapointing

Perhaps my disappointment was because I had a bad day and the previous day had played Bowood Park? Found the detail of the overall course uninspiring.

(Round played: Aug 2015 - Score: 118 Handicap: 28)

Will mark areas of course :

Golf reception - helpful but disorganised. Hired clubs which where very poor but as given a free trolley
As a positive. One big negative left my Credit card as deposit for hire clubs was told to return it to restaurant as pro shop will be shut to return clubs and collect my card , guess what no card at Resturant so could not go out for dinner and gave to go back tomorrow !

Tees - general good condition
Fairway - general good condition
Greens - very good , true and surprisingly quick after large amount of rain last few days

Had my first taste of The Point last week as a members guest. Clearly a club in transition and the bar and particularly the restaurant are very smart and welcoming. Played on a wet day after the long, hot spell and greens and tees had clearly taken a battering as they were horrible and the bunkers were full of rubble and not sand! Greens were patchy and most annoyingly the fringes were either bare or long lush grass. The tee's were also baked hard mud with no grass and very unattractive. I appreciate this may be due to the unusually warm and then very wet weather but a slight reduction of the excessive £20 members guest fee would have softened the blow. Some lovely views and some interesting holes proves the potential however, based on this visit there is work to do.

Solid course and enjoyable to play. Probably came away underwhelmed based on the quality of the courses locally but nevertheless, it is a good challenge - especially when the wind gets up.

Fun course for a holiday round

With the summer we have just had, unsurprisingly the fairways were baked hard, with almost no greenery on them at all. The greens were in good condition and were rolling nice and true. Good fun course, lots of interesting holes due to the hilly nature of the environment. Good clubhouse.

Enjoyed our round at The Point

Four of us played pairs stroke play at The Point on Saturday. We really enjoyed our round of golf. The weather was good as we eased around the course with the use of buggies. We thought it was a challenging track and a fair test of golf skills. The buggies were in good condition, as was the course. Fairways, greens, bunkers were all well prepared well.

Excellent

As a beginner this course is well suited to the challenges of learning whilst you play. Nice forgiving long holes with just the right balance of bunkers. Greens are superb and fast! Back 9 is a great challenge, nicely laid out and thought provoking at times. Overall a great course for relaxed golfing, ideally suited to beginners and intermediates but still good for all to play. Well kept greens and fairways

Pro shop was a bit snooty. Course, fab, great brill. Some great holes in a stunning setting. Club house was friendly and food was lovely. Deffo worth a visit, need to treat guests a little better in the pro shop, yes we were tourists, but we were paying guests, live with it.
