Played Dukes after reading most of the comments and have to agree that the roughs are awful (lost 10+ balls between the 2 of us from just giving up looking) and the play was so slow and backed up right from the off. Behind us was a group playing as a 7 (3 of them who were playing for the first time) and in front a 2 ball in a buggy with a dog

Would definitely not recommend, especially for the green fee. Staff were rude and didn't even stamp a scorecard or check our tee off time - which is half the reason the play was so slow

Won't be going back even though it's local

Poorly kept greens and poorly kept fairways. The re-vamped course is no better than previously. Always busy but simply because of its convenient location.

Played the Dukes course on 01 June 2014.Unfortunately I have to say that I was not impressed at all by the whole experience

We specifically decided to visit the course on the reopening weekend, a time when I would have expected to see pristine fairways, pathways, greens etc. instead The rough was REALLY ROUGH! The first cut was the level of what the rough should have been. The fairway was no different from the first cut, well driven balls had no run in them, they practically pitched up to carry distance. From most of the tees it was very difficult at times to distinguish where the fairway began and finished. Sand bunkers were awful due to barely having the one ingredient they needed (sand). On the website side - 90% of the content concentrated on the brand spanking new club house building - which lacked atmosphere and energy when we arrived. The remaining 10% of the website content was I am sad to say, very poor. The only course information for visitors is a course layout map!! Don't expect to find any basic visitor information like a score card or course guides etc

For the money laid out to play a round of golf, the state of holes, walkways and greens were really substandard. I came here to this website vent my golfing disappointment only to find that a number of other fellow golfers have expressed their views already.I do hope the association (GlenDale) that run Richmond Park Golf Club are sitting up and taking note. This course could be run a lot better...

I have played this Golf Course twice in the last 2 years each time i leave swearing never to go back! Booking a Tee time here does not seem to matter as when yo get to the 1st Tee box you will be behind 2 or 3 groups all waiting to Tee off. As previous Poster has said GET A STARTER!! The last time i was there there was 3 guys behind the club house counter 2 chatting and 1 serving, i got out to the 1st Tee and 4 groups were waiting to Tee off, Sort it out Richmond. I will never play this course again, drive 20 mins further and you have a whole host of better quality and more importantly better organised golf courses.

Played the course on Sat 2 Feb 2014. The course at present is under renovation / new clubhouse / driving range etc so some disruption is to be expected. The current layout is a composite of the old Dukes and Princes courses, using the driest parts of each course. The weather was great and considering we booked an 8am tee time we expected a good run at it, however, not to be. Upon arriving we were told by the guy behind the counter that things were a bit slow. I questioned him as to how this could be at 8am with tee times every 8 minutes but his blank expression said it all. My main issue with this course is the exact same I had the last time I played there last summer after which I said I’d never go back. The course needs a STARTER. Last summer we arrived on the first tee box to be met with 5 groups waiting to tee off, on a sort of a first come first severed basis regardless of actual tee times booked. That day it took over 5 hours to play the most excruciatingly painful round of my life. I thought it couldn’t be as bad again but it was just the same. The current first is a drivable par 4, bad idea for starters as unless you’re pretty short you’ll have to wait until the green clears. There was a 4 ball on the green, a two ball on the fairway (what looked like 100 yard drives each, a long day in store), a 2 ball & 3 ball on the tee box, and us (2 ball). Start times of 8 minutes apart should be perfectly fine to keep things moving. However, when you let people to their own devices this becomes chaos. 2 balls need to be paired up with each other and they need a starter, at least in the morning to set the trend for the day. The course does attract a lot of novices which is fine as long as proper etiquette is adhered to which I’m afraid is not the case on this course as the tone is set by management. On the plus side the greens were pretty good and dry considering the recent weather. I’d advise anyone who wishes to keep their sanity to avoid this place and head into Surrey where the courses are far superior for roughly the same price.

Another five hour uncompleted round yesterday.

The management don't seem to understand the concept of staggered tee times, with everyone being told to turn up as the course is empty. Only to find a wait for the 1st tee and up to five groups playing or waiting to play the same hole.

The location is handy/easily accessible from London but when taking into account the over crowding, with a course and facilities which are average at best, I would advise playing elsewhere.

These are views shared by the staff at the course, who openly admit that nick and John (the managers) only care about money and packing as may people onto the course as possible.

Will never return!

Dear management,
Stop being so arrogant, stop being money driven, start caring about your customers and, above all, start following a tee-time booking system.

I played the course 4-5 times last year and never finished under 5 hours. I agreed to play with a friend and give you another chance this weekend, nothing has changed.

We walked off the course after 3 hours having played 8 holes. 20mins waiting on each tee box is ridiculous. At one point 5 groups were all playing the same hole.
This time I am never going back.

Play this course a lot and the condition over winter has been abysmal. The ground between the 2nd and 3rd tees is a total quagmire. The weather has been awful, but a lot more could have been done to keep the course playable.

Driving range was closed and there is no other training facilities there to warm up on. Course was in average condition but you are playing off winter tees the whole time which makes the round far less enjoyable

My writing on behalf of my husband he tries to Play every Tuesday, but for a while now you can only use buggies on certain holes this is a shame because golf clubs are very heavy I was wondering how much longer this will be, because he misses playing a lot especially like the weather is today.
