Upon arriving a 7 am for a spot of breakfast before our round, we were told the bar did not open until 8, in spite of the published opening times stating that it did indeed open at 7. At around 7.15, someone finally turned up and told us that the kitchen "may" be open at around 8, but did qualify this by saying that she wasn't sure. Never mind; we were there to play golf and one cup of insipid coffee later (consumed in a bar with all the charm of a doctor's waiting room) we were underway. The Marshall was friendly and helpful and we found the front nine to be a decent enough challenge, if open and obviously not yet mature, the rou was punishing and the greens fast. The back nine is an altogether different kettle of fish, wit tree-lined fairways and some decent water hazards.my own round was marred by the loss of a couple of balls in the thick rough and some horrible lies in divots, but all in all the course is decent. However, Meon Valley is just up the road and is a superior outfit in every respect, and it is there where I will be going in future.

Review
Course in ok condition. Some picturesque holes. Bunkers in terrible condition. ?35 for a round is too expensive for what is on offer here. Too many lost balls after good shots inReviewer Rating

Great course well set out and friendly staff the only problem was the thick rough good for mid to low handicapers who can keep their shots on the fairway but any shots that were in the rough or just rolled into the rough resulted in a lost ball,played with 2 high handicapers and they lost about 6 balls each due to the height of the rough which was about a foot high, grass cut the length by half and you would still have a demanding shot from the rough but be able to find your ball in the first place

Areal good course to play but sadly a lot of loud players who don't understand that shouting can be off putting to other players

This course is excellently looked after and a challenge for most levels of golfer. The freedom golf membership option is real good value for golfers like me that can play at strange times out of prime time.

This is a course that sneaks up on you. The first nine holes play to plan and then the course grabs you by the 'balls' literally. all three of us crashed and burned (it was 29 hot ). this is a good , no very good course

I have played this course a few times I am not much of a fan, the course is just too open for my liking but our golf society comes here often.
The course played well on the day of our round even though it was rather wet. My scorecard said I played well but I was very wayward but kept my ball in play.
The clubhouse is large & the food is rather good. I might think again about playing here tho, said that a few times

Lots of refurbishment of clubhouse going on. Food very good, Course in fair condition. Rough was Brutal, Greens very tricky
