In poor shape
Sadly, Nizel's golf club is suffering very badly this summer with the dry weather we've had. The fairways barely resemble a golf course and are damaged, covered in weeds etc. the tee boxes are falling apart and although the greens are watered, they are very slow and have been left to grow. Shame, because at times of the year this course can play well but it's in very poor repair at the moment.Reviewer Rating

Played on 18th March. I have played a few times before and had heard the drainage had been sorted, not so. The course was dreadful, it was like hitting a ball off a soaked sponge and that’s just the fairways. The fairways on some holes were like a mowed field. I think the problem is the course is so wet, the greens staff cannot cut short enough. Balls were plugging on fairways in the rough...forget it, pick up your ball, clean the mud and place. Won’t be going back.

Very Wet
Very wet indeed, even on fairways. Off fairways a bog. Greens not bad, except 15 which was in trouble. Many bunkers GUR. Difficult to judge course given ground conditions. HiReviewer Rating

Rip off.
Booked online and at no point did they warn me that two holes were closed for drainage work and that the greens had been spiked. It's July so you would expect the course to be in the best condition. I feel completely ripped off. Never going back.Reviewer Rating

Course still suffering from last winter, lift and place on all fairways. Tees in poor condition. Greens were in good condition though speed very slow.

Should have been closed
Played today and course completely waterlogged. Really shouldn't have been open. Front desk said they'd leave a note for the greenkeeper, which isn't any use. So it's a poor review for todayReviewer Rating

What a horrid place was treated to a round of golf here to have abuse hurtled at us from a member because we had our dog which we was allowed with us! And to make it worse have the GM defend him basically saying it ok for him to swear and abuse us because \"he\'s a member of the course\". Disgusting!! The course was in awful condition you are made to play off practically the ladies tees which are hacked to pieces, water logged. Awful save your money and play a decent golf course!

The course really was not in the best of condition, particularly around the greens. It is a tough course particularly on the front nine, but not worth the money.

Disappointing
I have played the course a number of times and always found it to be in good condition and a fair but tough test and sadly my visit on 7th October 2020 is the first time I have had cause for complaintThe fairways were in very poor condition and the greens were not up to past standards
I am sure it will return to its normal high levels but currently is in a disappointing state

Good course layout with lots of interesting holes. Bunkers appalling. Has someone nicked the sand? Anti visitor attitude from some members, sadly these seem to be the "friends" of and including the captain.

Although we fairly enjoyed playing at Nizels it isn't what you'd call a refined course. It's in many places pretty raw. I don't know how old it is but in several areas you can see it's farmers field origin. Especially on the second shot on the par 5 10th where you obviously shoot from one field to the next. When we were there the fairway and greens were just about acceptable. The 19th was pretty good with decent beer and sustenance.

Afraid I will not be returning here for a while. The course was in poor condition with the greens virtually unplayable due to 'hollow-coring' making them extremely slow and bumpy. The rough in places was too harsh resulting in long delays waiting for all groups to search for their balls and the bunkers were not raked. The round was just shy of five hours! A very nice bar and club-house spoilt by the 'hot' pie and two veg being served cold and without gravy.

Do not play this course when it has been raining for a long period of time. Its built on Clay so does not drain at all. Standing water on the Fairways and walking in the lightrough/rough was dangerous at times.
