Very good for time of year and the fact that it is a forest course.
Quite a bit of sand on the greens but understandable.

A quirky and enjoyable experience

The New Forest club is a quirky golf experience but was certainly enjoyable. On the day we played, it had been raining constantly for 24 hours so it was very wet under foot and there were rain showers throughout. This contributed to very slow greens but I would imagine when dry and cut, they would roll nicely. The course layout is very interesting with some very attractive par 3s (a couple are very long), some very short par 4s but some long ones too and 4 very playable par 5s. It's not a hard course and will play short when dry but the green complexes are tricky. The quirk comes from the largely absent rough and the uncut fairways. You prefer lies all year which means you can always play from a decent lie. Wild ponies and cows roam the course and there is a lot of manure spread around. It is part of the character of the course so don't expect pristine fairways. at £23 a round, it is good value for money for a fun round of golf.

Very wet and boggy fairways on the front 9. Back 9 in better condition.

Greens were absolutely wonderful! Some of the best greens I've played. Tees were very good also.

£10 as tee time was 7.20. Good value for money.

A lovely setting, a real shame we played after a week of heavy rain. Lots of temporary greens which really were temporary - in several cases condition of these was so poor, it wasn't worth playing them. Fairways were typical of the area and very wet, but course is still not too challenging for anyone long off the tee. (Round played: Jan 2015 - Score: 85 Handicap: 18)

This is a testing course for hitting the ball straight. Horses on the course are an extreme distraction to the game

Sadly, we decided to play after weeks of heavy rain and the course had obviously suffered - 7 of the greens were temporary and not in great nick. It did feel like you were putting through light rough at times! However, the true greens were in tremendous nick and the course layout itself is both interesting and rewarding. I would definitely choose to play here again, but only after a good period of warm sunshine.
