Facilities: The only thing for me that is really missed, is a driving range to warm up. The putting green and the chipping green are the best I've seen in my limited time golfing. The golf shop is small, but perfect where it is. The club house has toilets, showers, and a changing area. The food is lovely here and the staff really give it that welcoming, home feel. I recommend trying the home made deserts. They are brilliant!!!
Membership: The other thing that I think lets the club down is it's membership. You don't pay for a full membership, it's just a partial and don't feel that you really save money. Maybe I got the wrong end of the stick here when I looked at it. Hopefully someone will say otherwise if I'm wrong. But for a fun day at regular price, it's not too bad. I always feel I get my money's worth.
Course: I don't know what it is about this course, but I lose a lot of balls here. I think my course management needs to be improved!!! The one criticism I have about the heavy rough is that it is too heavy. I like the idea where the heavy rough is kept in check so you can still find your ball relatively easy and keep the round going at a steady pace. I don't like to have to look ages through knee high rough (even refurbished Pro-V1's cost money). This comment though is really one of my pet peaves for all the golf courses I've played. I don't see the value in a player losing their ball. It slows things down. When you hit some poorly and it's out of bounds, you usually know then to drop another ball, but rough is one of those things where you can get caught out and completely mess up the flow of your game.
First hole-The hole of doom: If you get a chance to sit and watch people tee off for what looks like an easy 160yd par 3, you would think it is an easy hole. Beware, so many people mess up this hole, it's unbelievable. I personally blame this on the fact their isn't a proper range to warm up those longer irons and see what shot is working for you. It's a pretty open hole, but it can get you.
Second hole: Dog leg right. Cut the corner if you dare. I've not made it yet and can usually drive at least 220 carry. I like to try and slice it into the dog leg. I've not hit it out the back yet, though I don't try to kill it in all fairness.
Third hole: For some reason, this hole always takes me right, putting me right behind a hedge or a go out of bounds. If the wind is howling, it can be just the opposite and take me into the trees or the rough to the left. It's not as open as you might think and you can easily get caught out on this hole.
Fourth hole: Minnie dog leg right again. Oh - the driver is sooooo tempting on this hole, but beware of the water. It's just in range. And if you slice too much, you'll be in the woods. The putting green is surrounded be bunkers both front and back, there is also a mound out the back that is easy to go over. As this green is exposed, it's very quick, hence the extra notes about going out the back!!!
Fifth hole: Keep it on the fairway and you'll be fine. If you miss either left of right, you have the knee high rough to deal with. If you go in the rough, take a extra shot just in case. This hole take you down hill. Should be an easy hole, don't make it difficult for yourself.
Sixth hole: A very straight forward hole. Watch out for the rough on the right. This hole should be fairly straight forward. You end up playing up hill. So it's not always easy to judge your distance if wind is involved. Hopefully you paid attention on the Fifth. Only other concern is the sand around the green. Plus this is an exposed green yet again, so it can play quick or it could be a case of getting caught by the wind.
Seventh: Long hole. Always tempting to use the driver, but that brings in the ditch. In the summer on a warm day, I've cleared the ditch once. All the rest have been in the ditch or feet from it if I used a driver. I lay up now. The green is worth mentioning here as it has some very awkward bunkers protecting it. If you can come in from the right side, it's far easier. The left side of the fairway brings the bunkers in play.
eight hole: I use a driver on this hole. Sometimes a make it across the stream, sometimes I don't. Don't slice it to the right, as you will be in a world of rough. If you draw it to the left and go long, you can also be in the rough. A couple of bunkers around the green add a bit of spice. Again, another hole that looks easy, but doesn't necessarily play that way.
Ninth: My favourite hole for some reason. Again, don't slice right as there is a lot of knee high rough over there. Place there are some fairway bunkers I seem to remember. Keep it straight and true and you should have a nice play into the green. Should be an easy hole to finish on a positive (I usually only play nine holes here). But as in golf, sometimes the script isn't written that way.
Final note, Glen the local pro is a good guy and very helpful. If you want to get value for money with a lesson, this is the course and good pro to get you there.

better than it looks
we did a course overview on their website and was not expecting much to be honest, but... the clubhouse and staff are great. the course although not that long in length makes you work hard on the greens, the greens are very firm and cut tighly for even pace around the course, the greens are also very sculpted so never a flat 10 foot putt!! the holes can seem a bit close together in the middle of the course but when playing it is not really an issue. i would recommend playing this course as it is tougher than you may think.Reviewer Rating

Temporary Greens
Once again the team are doing a fantastic job in keeping the course open, following recent 'winter weather'. Overall, the course was well drained and had improved on our last visit on 14th Jan.However, we thought it was very cheeky to ask for full green fees when 50% of the greens were temporary and quite poor - especially when you are not told about the greens until after you have paid.

First time here?
First time playing since it became a proper 18 holes. Impressed, course in great condition, greens good. Only criticism is that some of the par fours are pretty short, drivable for big hitters. Bar area and food both excellent.Reviewer Rating
