Brilliant Links Style course

Vast open wide fairways, fescue fairways, heather everywhere, gauze everywhere are some of the reasons mitchams such a great golf course. The dry duney fairways create some bounce!
Particularly like usage of trees to shape the holes, great course and very flat!

Lost charm

Course wasn't as nice as past memories, congested in parts making for a slower round. Not a long course with a couple of drivable par 4s but still in good condition.

Great Value

The green were in extremely good condition and the staff very friendly and helpful. The fairways were good but very firm and cracked in places due to the weather. A map of the course would have been useful. Would play again.

excellent greens

Not too difficult with a pleasant variety of challenges. Greens are true and in excellent condition making the putting game a nice challenge. The rough looks formidable but is actually fairly forgiving and playable if you are lucky. 2 x nets and putting green but no chipping area. staff excellent and welcoming.

Good green conditions

Decent heathland course with tight fairways and strategically placed bunkers. Fairway conditions not great but preferred lies are an option all year round. Some testing par 3s with tee shots over trees or a gully.

Currently My Favourite Course

Historical course, designed by Old Tom. Lots of very get-able par 4s. A great afternoon guaranteed.

Good course - would revisit

Good value for ?21 weekend twilight. Interesting course with some challenging holes, though condition was not the best and the greens had been hollow tined so were bumpy. Super convenient from London - right next to the railway station.

Nice pay and play course very close to SW London. Train station from Victoria is right opposite course. Nice and open course, 18th is a lovely but tricky par 3 finish. Good pro shop, bar ok too.

First time playing at Mitcham, and it turned out to be a fairly pleasant experience. Mostly you're playing to fairly generous fairways, although there are a few where you might be wondering about the tram lines bordering the course.

You certainly won't have to worry about any climbs, as the terrain is as flat as they come. I say flat, although some of the fairways are often anything but, and on days when the ground is firmer I can imagine a few unusual bounces.

The greens seem to have a lot of protection from numerous bunkers, but miss those and you'll be playing on really good greens. I was surprised how good they were given that we're in the back end of January, and they are a total credit to the greens staff.

There is one stretch, over the other side of tram lines, where the holes seem to cross each other. There's also one hole, the 7th I think, where you have a small copse of trees guarding the green. Otherwise the course is good without being great, and there are only a few memorable holes. It's certainly worth playing though.

The clubhouse is certainly decent, but the toilets and changing areas look like they've just been refurbished and have a “I wasn't expecting that” wow factor. I can only speak for the Men's changing rooms, btw.

Excellent

Having not played at Mitcham for almost 30 years, it was an absolute pleasure to play there and to see that the course had undergone a few tweaks and layout changes but was still one of the best kept public courses around.
