June outing in Northumberland
I'm bias as it's my ?home? course but can't speak highly enough. A 27 hole course that's both wide open and challenging. Peaceful, quiet, rolling countryside on a well maintained course. Can't think of a better place to enjoy hours of my thoughts and how to crack this game called golf. A pint and bite to eat afterwards was equally peaceful in the Keepers lodge.Reviewer Rating

Back 9 we played the Dewlaw which started a lot better and looked in much better condition until we played the 3rd (which was our 12th). Lovely looking hole dogleg right par 4 around 350 yards however it was completely ruined by the hole being shortened to 170 yards using a winter green. I am using a winter green loosely as it was literally a hole in the middle of the fairway with a flag in it.
Course could be a lot better with a bit more maintenance and also signs to guide you to each hole as at times on the front 9 we had no idea where we were going as the Douglas and Standing Stone run side by side.
Wouldn't return in a hurry.

With the introduction of the new nine holes (Dewlaw) the stroke indexes on the sccorecard might confuse people initially, but it's easy to suss out once you realise!
The course and the facilites are set up to a very high standard indeed, with the greens that last time I played being some of the truest I've come across. Almost every hole has some kind of feature (or should I say trap ?).
I fail to see how anyone coudl be dissapointed with this layout.

Exceptional in every way
The course is in a condition that I honestly believe you will struggle to replicate on even the very best courses in the UK. Not notch facilities and made to feel exceptionally welcome. An absolute must.Reviewer Rating

Played the original 18 today and the course was looking stunning. Fairways and greens packed with grass and greens rolled very true. Enjoyed a lovely takeaway bacon sandwich before the round and a beer in the sun after which topped off the day. Definitely worth a visit.Reviewer Rating

Looking great after lockdown
Visited Matfen Hall G.C. (My home club) for first time since courses re-opened. Greens and fairways were looking great. Greens pretty much pitch mark free. Some tee boxes have been changed to allow for repair/ recovery. Rough has been cut to present more of a challenge in places. Shop open and you can order tea/coffee and snacks from the lodge. Great to be backReviewer Rating
