Poor conditions
Bunkers not raked, fairways not cut, 10th hole not in use, extremely wet under foot, still playing from temp tee boxes which extremely poor.Reviewer Rating

Played the Dawson Golf, as apparently the Lakes course was out of service. This might explain why I only saw two other groups on the course. Apart from the two water holes namely the 5th and 13th it was very boring, very few bunkers and heavy reliance on the rough to keep scores up. Greens and fairways were very fast and very flat, but the secret was to hit it straight and play a lot of chip and runs.
At £15 it was just about value for money but not at £38 per round. Judging the other comments on here, I should have waited to play the Lakes which charges the same.

Layout of this course is very challenging with lots of water, not many tee shots require the driver. Sometimes you get penalised for good tee shots which is a shame. Played in August and the greens were obviously impacted by a dry summer, tee boxes were in bad condition. However, for ?18 is very good value.

Lovely course, same about my not playing a game this time. Would recommend anybody to come and play at Longhirst and would like a challenge on the Lakes Course.

lakes coarse
if you play the lakes coarse take extra balls, lots of water hazards, also the coarse is short but walk between green to next tee is long, a buggy is advisable(Round played: May 2018 - Score: 124 Handicap: 28.8)

First thing to mention about Longhirst is it remains open even in the wettest of weather so if you are looking for a game when all other courses are closed give Longhirst a ring, as we did. The course itself (we played the Old Course) still has a very new feel to it and therefore, other than the many ponds/lakes, lacks features which make one hole stand out from another. For the time of year though and considering all other courses in the area were closed it was in good condition.

Heavily played but decent course
You can tell this course has heavy footfall. Many areas, especially tee boxes are void of grass. But in general the course is in good condition with excellent drainage. Good variety of holes with some thought needed. I believe the members aren't too happy about the number of visitors and the tee times they get to choose but as a 36 hole complex they seem to manage. Would play again no problems but not any sort of top regional course in my opinion. Relatively good value green fees and winter playability ensure the course stays busy but I've never known play to be any less than reasonable pace. 3'35 for our 3 ballReviewer Rating

Played on Tuesday in perfect weather. It was busy but got round with our 2 ball no problem. Dawson course was lovely too, with greens running a lot quicker than my home club. Some areas looking a bit dry but it was red hot. Staff in bar were great too. Will returnReviewer Rating

long time member and both courses continue to improve.
Even simple additions like ball lifters in the whole for covud are well thought out.
lack of indicators for pin position continue to be an issue and app is rarely updated

Take plenty balls
