Excellent
First of all, a big mention to Rebecca in the office for organising tee times and food for seven of us for the weekend. Food was great, nothing was a problem for the bar staff, and the two pro's did more than help. Even the guys in the starter's box added to the enjoyment. On to the courses, and I can't say anything that's not already been said. Dawson course is long but very receptive and not too much danger, though you can still find water. Think of the 5th in particular. The Lakes course is a lot shorter but you need to be on your game to score well here. The 17th is one hole that will live long in the memory. Courses were in fab condition and the greens were fast enough without being like glass. All in all, a truly tremendous experience.Reviewer Rating

Beautiful picturesque and unforgiving
The lakes course is true to its name with water hazards on every hole. The course is picture postcard and would not loo out of place holding the USPGA. fairways are generously wide but tough is unforgiving, as is the wet stuff so take plenty of spare balls. Play fairways and greens and you can score well, but be wary of the extremities. The greens are functional but not to the standard of other courses in the area however they are good enough to not spoil the experience.Reviewer Rating

Lovely
Back at it after returning from working to find the lakes course in fantastic condition. It rained none stop for 2 days before and there was no sign of any water. The greens were superb and the fairways lush. Back up next week to play the dorson course. Honestly the best golfing decision joining here. Love it.Reviewer Rating

Haven't played the Dawson for a couple of years, and forgot what a great course it is. Old course possibly still my favourite, but there are some great holes on the Dawson, and some of the Old Course as well. One piece of advice, bring enough balls, there's lots of water (although not quite as much as the Lakes course!).

Heavily played but decent course
You can tell this course has heavy footfall. Many areas, especially tee boxes are void of grass. But in general the course is in good condition with excellent drainage. Good variety of holes with some thought needed. I believe the members aren't too happy about the number of visitors and the tee times they get to choose but as a 36 hole complex they seem to manage. Would play again no problems but not any sort of top regional course in my opinion. Relatively good value green fees and winter playability ensure the course stays busy but I've never known play to be any less than reasonable pace. 3'35 for our 3 ballReviewer Rating

Mr
Played both the Dawson and Lakes Course via booking with GolfNow, £18 each; great value for money. Both courses are exceptionally picturesque and the welcome from staff and members is spot on. Don’t let some of the wide fairways trick you into thinking this is going to be a sub-hcp round. A great test of golf where distance off the tee and accuracy are both rewarded in equal measures. Would highly recommend playing these courses.Reviewer Rating

Played The Lakes after hearing the great reviews.WOW was not disappointed.
This is the best looking course I've played on in the whole North East, and I thought I'd seen most.
Looking at booking again next week and even getting a membership (after telling everyone, I'll never join a course as prefer playing them All)
However I would make an exception in this case, without even playing the Dawson course which rumoured to be just as nice.
On a Sunny day, you would swear you were in the USA on a Florida Course.
Highly recommended
Can't wait to play it again next week.

Challenging course in great condition
Played the Dawson recently as part of a society day and the course was in great condition. From a friendly welcome in the clubhouse where great care has been taken with social distancing measures to great organisation out on the course it was a cracking day out. There is a fantastic practice facility which many of our group took advantage off prior to teeing off.
With a stiff wind on the day the already challenging course played tough but fair. Greens were receptive and rolled true, rough is punishing and watch out for the water (of which there is still a fair bit).

Well worth it
Played here for years now, and can understand why people rave about it. The old course has played great recently over the holidays and we look forward to the 2 courses again in the summer. Glad to be a member.Reviewer Rating
