Played today (26/11/14) in the misty rain and couldn't get over how fast the greens were...lovely roll although sadly I was not rolling it in the right direction!
Course in fantastic condition and buggies were in use despite all the recent rain.
Fabulous course for playing this time of the year...might consider their Winter membership....very good value at £16 a week now till end of March 2015!!

No course map on scorecard or hole map on teeing area, as 1st time player at Lewes and as some shots its not possible to see the greens made club selection a bit of a guess. Apart from that I really had a good day.

Great game, worth it every time.Three months of rain and you still didnt want a downhill putt cos of the speed of the greens.

This downland course is such a good test of your golf game, not prticularly long but shot placement is so important. Do you go for the green or drop it short and let it run on? The greens are excellent and always faster than you think! Fantastic views and good food and drink in the clubhouse make this a must play course if you are in the area.

Its a bit wierd...I have lived in Lewes for over 30 years and I've never played Lewes before. I have heard on the grapevine that its quite tricky especially when the wind gets up. The other stuff I heard was about the excellent greens and tees and superb drainage allowing play all year round. This was all true. Despite some local vandalism where some twat had doughnutted his 4x4 around some of the greens, they were superb; hard, fast, challenging and immensley rewarding if you read them correctly. I dont play long...no woods at all in my bag...but this didnt really affect me adversly on this course. The front nine was difficult for me as I am adjusting to a new swing but the back nine was the best golf I have ever played.

The only negative I could think about was some of the walks to the next tee went accross other holes and there is a blind crossover at one point. However, this is very minor and I would strongly recommend.

Fantastic day...great course

wonderful challenging course, greens in superb condition, terrific views as the course is situated on top of cliff overlooking the town, very hospitable in both the pro shop and clubhouse mind you driving to the clubhouse is an experience up a very narrow steep hill.

Wow

Superb course. For the weather we have had recently this is playing pure. Greens, fairways and teeboxes are immaculate. Be prepared for the wind, it wasnt a windy day but being so high up means there is always wind. Not a long course but one you need knowledge of, will definitely be back.

Worth a visit - one of the best around

Excellent course, a little bit of a strange layout which might put me off playing on a busy day as a lot of crisscrossing. Staff extremely friendly and accommodating. Course in immaculate condition despite the rain on the day and week before. Would play again in a mid-week or off peak time. One of the best courses around with stunning views!
