Amazing views, tremendous VfM
This is one of my favourite courses in this area. I have played it several times. There is a decent mix of holes, most perfectly ok but with three showstoppers. The course is perched on a hill overlooking Oxford so the views are spectacular. This is especially apparent on the ninth and 18th, both of which are long downhillers heading towards the view. They both invite a big drive off the tee, and then both end in dramatic and well guarded green complexes near the club house. The other standout hole is the third - this one is truly world class and I can't work out why it is not more famous. A fabulous view of Oxford from the tee and a massive, wide-open downhill fairway which invites a big drive. But the fairway also has a devilish sideslope. And when you get to your ball you realise that the hole then heads back uphill. So you're likely to be hitting off a downhillsidehill lie to a very well guarded green above you. It's an amazing hole. The rest of the course is perfectly fine - nothing quite so memorable but nothing wrong with it either. And the green fee is a steal - sometimes less than £20 in midweek.

Great for wildlife and views
Just completed early morning round with loads of wildlife to view: pheasant, deer, rabbits, a cute family of young Canada geese and even a cuckoo. The golf wasn't bad either! The course is in pretty good shape; greens and fairways are pretty good; the rough can get a bit rampant at this time of year so it's best avoided if you can. Bunkers remain the major item of work-in-progress. The greenkeepers do a great job pitched against the local wildlife who seem to want only to dig up the greens, and the climate. It's a friendly club and well worth a visit. The views over Oxford and the surrounding countryside are stunning.(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 95 Handicap: 22.5)

Really Improved Course
I was impressed by the quality of the fairways and greens. Having visited several years back the improvement is clear. The views are consistently excellent and the course layout interesting and a good challenge. There was a friendly welcome in the charming old clubhouse and, while I did not stop for food or drink this time, I certainly will on the next visit as it all looked very tempting. Will be back soon!Reviewer Rating

A great find.
Visited Hinksey today for the first time. What a great course, a real gem. Great mixture of long & wide, short & narrow, holes, interesting doglegs and undulating terrain. Quite a long walk all in all, but the higher holes are rewarded with stunning views over Oxford. It was bright and fairly sunny today, with a fair breeze. I imagine it will feel very exposed in the colder, winter months. Thoroughly enjoyed it, challenging golf, with the holes well guarded by bunkers and trees, and quite tricky (though very well-maintained) greens. One thing of note today was that a heck of a lot of bunkers are marked "Ground Under Repair", and a drop zone marked - Not sure if this is a long term problem, but some bunkers looked a bit like demolition sites. Overall, highly recommended, will definitely return.(Round played: Aug 2018 - Score: 104 Handicap: 23.8)

Whether you have played this course or not, it's worth playing.
This course is maturing well and continues to improve. If you have not played before, this is an links style course, that is rarely without breeze. No two holes are the same and the contours of land have used to great effect. The drainage improvements have helped the fairways, but the bunkers are still in need of work.Assuming a clear day the views of Oxford, its spires and surrounding countryside will not disappoint.
Whether or not you have played this course before, it's definitely worth a visit. A good test of golf whatever your handicap.

Much improved, great views
A lot of work has been done to improve the course. Fairways are good, greens true, rough has been cleared and the battle against the elements and burrowing creatures is being won bit by bit, thanks to sterling work by the green-keepers. Bunkers are still work in progress but overall, the course has improved greatly over the past few weeks. It offers enjoyable golf. The view from the 18th tee provides one of the most spectacular panoramic vistas, certainly in Oxfordshire, and probably in the whole of the UK. Come and try it!(Round played: May 2018 - Score: 93 Handicap: 27)

Good challenging course
Winter course too long. Greens and fairways in good condition now. Bunkers are all GUR. Some of holes are too long for the short hitter.(Round played: Dec 2017 - Score: 109 Handicap: 27.4)

Challenging course, lovely views of dreaming spires
Good course with some challenging holes. Overall condition ok provided it's been mown recently. Bunkers need lots of attention, greens suffered from drought early in the summer but are recovering now. Limited facilities available in the clubhouse but everyone seems friendly.(Round played: Sep 2017 - Score: 103 Handicap: 26.7)

Hinksey heights review
Given a Groupon voucher for my birthday hence the visit. Was kept waiting for over 5 minutes when trying to book in because guy behind till was being given trained on a spreadsheet, that very poor in my opinion.
Onto the course and the Greens were very poor on the first 9 but did improve coming home.
Course itself was picturesque and just the Greens let it down,if the Greens improve happy to come back.

Greens need improving
Really enjoyed my round here apart from the quality of the greens. They were very bumpy and the worst I have seen. A couple of the bunkers need weeding and some sand added. The rest of the course was good. The views make this course along with the woodpeckers that are constantly landing on the fairways. £12.50 a round makes it affordable. If they improve the greens and bunkers this course will be great.Reviewer Rating
