Lovely views, challenging golf
The course is in the best condition it's been for a while. Fairways are clear and well-cut. A lot of work has been done on the greens and they are in great condition. There's some quite challenging rough so make sure you either steer clear of it or bring plenty of spare balls. Some work has been done on the bunkers and they're probably about as good as they're going to be without major investment. The course remans one of the most scenic in the area and the views make it well worth the challenge. It's a friendly, un-stuffy club which welcomes everyone and will provide welcome refreshment before and/or after yoir round.(Round played: Aug 2021 - Score: 98 Handicap: 23.6)

excellent test of your golfing abilities
Hinksey Heights is an unstuffy club that has needed investment in the past but I would now say that it is very good condition with some great holes to challenge you. It's great value compared to other local courses and is definitely worth a visit, money is being spent on the course and the facilities and is improving year on year under new management. Come and see for yourself if you have not been out on the course for many years. The points membership is excellent value for money and allows to book members tees times, enter their comps and have discounted food and drink in the clubhouse.Reviewer Rating

A great find.
Visited Hinksey today for the first time. What a great course, a real gem. Great mixture of long & wide, short & narrow, holes, interesting doglegs and undulating terrain. Quite a long walk all in all, but the higher holes are rewarded with stunning views over Oxford. It was bright and fairly sunny today, with a fair breeze. I imagine it will feel very exposed in the colder, winter months. Thoroughly enjoyed it, challenging golf, with the holes well guarded by bunkers and trees, and quite tricky (though very well-maintained) greens. One thing of note today was that a heck of a lot of bunkers are marked "Ground Under Repair", and a drop zone marked - Not sure if this is a long term problem, but some bunkers looked a bit like demolition sites. Overall, highly recommended, will definitely return.(Round played: Aug 2018 - Score: 104 Handicap: 23.8)

Whether you have played this course or not, it's worth playing.
This course is maturing well and continues to improve. If you have not played before, this is an links style course, that is rarely without breeze. No two holes are the same and the contours of land have used to great effect. The drainage improvements have helped the fairways, but the bunkers are still in need of work.Assuming a clear day the views of Oxford, its spires and surrounding countryside will not disappoint.
Whether or not you have played this course before, it's definitely worth a visit. A good test of golf whatever your handicap.

Much improved, great views
A lot of work has been done to improve the course. Fairways are good, greens true, rough has been cleared and the battle against the elements and burrowing creatures is being won bit by bit, thanks to sterling work by the green-keepers. Bunkers are still work in progress but overall, the course has improved greatly over the past few weeks. It offers enjoyable golf. The view from the 18th tee provides one of the most spectacular panoramic vistas, certainly in Oxfordshire, and probably in the whole of the UK. Come and try it!(Round played: May 2018 - Score: 93 Handicap: 27)

Great course, great views, friendly people
Lots of hard work by the longsuffering greenkeepers means this course is in good condition despite the ravages of the climate this summer. The greens are beautifully green(!) and smooth, the fairways parched but very playable and some of the bunkers are good, others less so. Stunning views over the city of Oxford and surrounding areas remain one of the more attractive features of this venue. It is a distinctly unstuffy course - members are friendly, visitors are welcome. Well worth a trip if you're looking to try somewhere different.Reviewer Rating

Lovely views, challenging golf
Lots of work done over the winter to put this course in the best condition it has enjoyed for years. It remains one of the gems of Oxfordshire, with peerless views over the dreaming spires. The greens are in great condition, the people are friendly and it's a wonderful, unstuffy place.Reviewer Rating

Scenic course offers a good challenge
Course is looking the best it has done for a few years. Greens, fairways and light rough are all well-maintained, thanks to the tireless efforts of the greenkeepers. Some more bunkers have been brought back into play. The bunkers at Hinksey will never be great without the sort of investment the club just doesn't have. However, it's good to have more bunkers at least playable. The views remain one of the most attractive features of the course. If you haven't tried it, give it a whirl. It's a friendly, un-stuffy club and well worth a visit.(Round played: Jul 2020 - Score: 96 Handicap: 24)
