Really Improved Course

I was impressed by the quality of the fairways and greens. Having visited several years back the improvement is clear. The views are consistently excellent and the course layout interesting and a good challenge. There was a friendly welcome in the charming old clubhouse and, while I did not stop for food or drink this time, I certainly will on the next visit as it all looked very tempting. Will be back soon!

I played the course for the first time in years , and couldn't believe just how much work had been done. The fairways , greens and general condition had improved greatly and I was made to feel so welcome in the clubhouse . If you get the chance give it a go.

You can tell a lot of work has been done over the last year or so, greens run true and fast now, lovely to putt on. Excellent test of golf for all standards with great views over Oxford and a warm welcome awaits you once you have finished your round in the 19th Hole. Great course and set up for golf society's, good value for money on and off the course. Highly recommend.

My partner and I had the pleasure of playing this course a few times whilst living in Oxford. The course had some testing holes, particularly the third where you have to place the ball in the right spot for a chance of a second shot onto the elevated green. A lot of work appears to be going on on the course which will make this a course to rival some of the best in the area. Together with a good course, the members are very friendly and we always felt very welcome here.We will definitely return!!

Have been playing Hinksey regularly over the last 10 years and can say with ease that the course has never played as good as it has this year. The greens are far more consistent over the 18 holes and run MUCH better than I have witnessed before. I often enjoy a nice treat after the round either with a burger or fish and chips from the clubhouse.

What a transformation!!! - The amount of work that has obviously been applied since I last played here 18 months ago is truly showing dividends and the golfers - visitors or members are reaping the rewards. A challenging yet forgiving course for all standards now reflecting the stunning views over Oxford.

Course is fantastic and chatting to the head greenskeeper so many projects lined up for the winter. thoroughly impressed with the clubs welcome, desire to share their enthusiasm of the improvements and I would encourage anybody who hasn't played there for a while to go and see what a change has been made. ill definitely return and take others with me

Thank you for a great day

Wow! What a difference a few years makes. I have played here for a few years. The last time I was here it looked seriously neglected. The friendly staff told me that the members took over last year and by the looks of the course they are obviously showing it the love that the beautiful setting deserves. It's fairly obvious that there is still work going on but the difference from my last visit was awesome. Highly recommended for the course and the fantastic views over Oxford and the staff seemed friendly and helpful too.

I've been a member at Hinksey Heights for the last 4 years and I've seen major changes at the club. The course has absolutely stunning views of the dreaming spires of Oxford and is fantastically laid out. It's a real challenge for golfers especially when the wind gets up, which it normally does. Our signature hole, the 3rd, is a stunning par 4 and coming so early in the round it has a habit of ruining my medal card.
Having been a member at several clubs, I can't think of a friendlier club and with the new status of members club I know that the members will be working to make it even better.
I couldn't recommend this place more highly.

Great for wildlife and views

Just completed early morning round with loads of wildlife to view: pheasant, deer, rabbits, a cute family of young Canada geese and even a cuckoo. The golf wasn't bad either! The course is in pretty good shape; greens and fairways are pretty good; the rough can get a bit rampant at this time of year so it's best avoided if you can. Bunkers remain the major item of work-in-progress. The greenkeepers do a great job pitched against the local wildlife who seem to want only to dig up the greens, and the climate. It's a friendly club and well worth a visit. The views over Oxford and the surrounding countryside are stunning.

A great find.

Visited Hinksey today for the first time. What a great course, a real gem. Great mixture of long & wide, short & narrow, holes, interesting doglegs and undulating terrain. Quite a long walk all in all, but the higher holes are rewarded with stunning views over Oxford. It was bright and fairly sunny today, with a fair breeze. I imagine it will feel very exposed in the colder, winter months. Thoroughly enjoyed it, challenging golf, with the holes well guarded by bunkers and trees, and quite tricky (though very well-maintained) greens. One thing of note today was that a heck of a lot of bunkers are marked "Ground Under Repair", and a drop zone marked - Not sure if this is a long term problem, but some bunkers looked a bit like demolition sites. Overall, highly recommended, will definitely return.

Whether you have played this course or not, it's worth playing.

This course is maturing well and continues to improve. If you have not played before, this is an links style course, that is rarely without breeze. No two holes are the same and the contours of land have used to great effect. The drainage improvements have helped the fairways, but the bunkers are still in need of work.
Assuming a clear day the views of Oxford, its spires and surrounding countryside will not disappoint.
Whether or not you have played this course before, it's definitely worth a visit. A good test of golf whatever your handicap.
