Excellent layout
Similar to what I said in April.A fantastically laid out course, uses the contours brilliantly, just a shame it needs a bit of TLC.
It's a fantastic walk, with quite a few challenging hills, great views across Manchester & the penines.
It just needs a bit of care, I know they can't help kids going on the course on motorbikes, but looking past that there are some scruffy places & the greens aren't the best.
This layout, in great condition, would challenge most of the great parkland golf courses that I've played.
It's definitely worth a visit.

Municipal course of good quality
For a municipal course Heaton is in great condition. I played late on my own, there was hardly anyone playing and a lot of dog walkers etc but it was fine. Greens in good condition and fairways also good. Obvious signs that it is on public ground (beer cans in bunkers, dog walkers etc) but overall, for the small green fee it was worthwhile.(Round played: Aug 2019 - Score: 83 Handicap: 15.7)

Tiring and tough but good
Good condition after the poor weather. Usual problem for this fine challenging course is that it gets well used after bad weather due to the fine drainage and unfortunately a number of users do not replace divots etc. Sadly some of the worst offenders often include some club members from elsewhere who tend to use this course when their own are suffering from the weather but don't show a course respect. despite this occasional problem it is a good challenging course which will provide a variety of lies to test players but the often steep slopes make it a demanding physical test - not one for some of the golfers used to flat courses.Reviewer Rating

Always good and getting better
Great park course near junction 19 m60 quite testing with all the hills but with fairways and greens getting better care now it makes for a great round with views of the surrounding countryside.Reviewer Rating

Well drained and friendly
Course in reasonable shape with recent weather, not helped by 'golfers' (??) not acting responsibly and replacing divots etc.Major problem was that there were no refreshments available afterwards despite it being mid afternoon. Refreshment facility not re opening ?
No practice facilities. Driving range built cannot be used as it is too close to the main road (dhhhhhh!) and the land not even used for putting/short game .

good and tough
Though course is short it is very undulating with quite a few blind shots the rough is getting quite long and unfair in some places e.g. in the trees when in a stand of trees the last thing you need is to be searching knee deep grass for your ball. Either the tress are the hazard or the long grass surely. other negative is a lot of cut grass in the semi rough left lying so easy to loose a ball(Round played: Jul 2017 - Score: 93 Handicap: 24.6)
